A well-known Sydney real estate agent has been charged with assault after police were called to investigate two alleged violent altercations.
Rebecca Fearon, 48, who has sold property in the Balmain area for more than 20 years, will face court next month charged with two counts of common assault.
NSW Police allege Fearon, a property partner with The Agency, assaulted another person on two separate occasions in April and June this year.
Following an investigation by officers from Ryde Police Area Command, Fearon was arrested and charged.
“At about 5.45pm on Tuesday 18 June 2024, a 48-year-old woman was arrested at a house on Cross Street Ryde. The woman was taken to Gladesville Police Station where she was charged with two counts of common assault,” NSW Police said in a statement.
Fearon is due to face Burwood Local Court on July 11.
The Agency, where Fearon has been a partner since 2022, said on Friday it had terminated her contract and she would not be associated with the business for much longer.
“Rebecca Fearon was a contractor at The Agency. Her independent contractor agreement has been terminated and she is working out her notice period,” the spokesman said.
Prior to joining The Agency, Fearon was the licensee of Ray White’s Balmain office.
“With over 25 years experience in the Inner West real estate market, Rebecca has built a large and loyal clientele due to her exceptional negotiation skills, product knowledge and her honest personable approach,” her website biography states.
“Rebecca’s strong commitment to delivering the best to her clients, combined with her excellent reputation in consistently achieving a successful result in today’s ever-changing inner west market place means that the selling or buying experience of your home will be ‘smooth, satisfactory and enjoyable’.”
Fearon was the licensee of Ray White in Balmain when the franchise’s then-principal Karl Howard was charged with attacking two women in February 2021, one with a samurai sword.
Howard later pleaded guilty to recklessly causing grievous bodily harm and assault.
There is no suggestion Fearon was in any way connected to Howard’s crimes, but only a business associate.
Howard was sentenced in November last year to a 27-month intensive corrections order, which he is serving in the community.
Judge Antony Townsden said Howard must stay off alcohol and drugs and complete a domestic violence program.
He was also ordered to perform 250 hours of community service.
Fearon has also been slapped with an apprehended violence order application in protection of a woman, which is due to be mentioned in Burwood Local Court on July 11.
