A Grafton man abused a group of women, telling them “this is my f--king country”, before trying to stab them. But one woman bravely stood her ground.

A Grafton man was drinking himself into oblivion before threatening to kill a group of women for being “in my f--king country”.

Rodney Richard Currie, 41, was intoxicated after leaving Upper South Grafton Boat Ramp when he entered a street and began hurling abuse at three women sitting on their porch.

Currie said “f--k you, go back to your country” while the women told him to keep walking.

He then walked onto their property and continued abusing them before he said he would “get a knife and kill you all”.

The victims attempted to calm him, but Currie entered an unlocked property next door where the group of women said they heard rustling in the kitchen.

Currie walked out of the house holding a large metal serrated knife and shouted “this is my f--king country”.

One woman stood on the footpath – fearful of turning around to run in case she might be stabbed in the back, police facts state.

Currie closed in on the victim and raised his hand carrying the weapon – only to be punched on the chin by the woman, causing him to drop the knife and fall to the ground.

The victims called police and Currie was apprehended.

At the police station, officers had to remove a chain from his pants due to potential self-harm issues.

As they handcuffed him and attempted to remove the chain, Currie kicked Constable Rogers in the knee.

Currie has pleaded guilty to three counts of stalking and intimidation with intent to cause fear or physical harm, using a weapon to commit an indictable offence, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

Currie’s bail was refused on Monday and he is to reappear before Grafton Local Court for sentencing.

Last year the accused was sentenced for being the driver in a two-car crash after a chaotic police pursuit in South Grafton, which left a man with head injuries.
