A NSW Police employee has been charged after milk and fists went flying in a heated exchange at a Sydney supermarket, which was caught on CCTV.
The fight unfolded at Woolworths in Auburn Central on Thursday afternoon, after a man and woman allegedly became involved in a heated war of words with another shopper as they waited at the checkout.
Shock video of the incident shows the two customers exchanging words, before one of them shoved the other as he grabbed his milk from the bagging area.
But the shove triggered a physical fight between all three of the shoppers, with a 2L bottle of milk used as a weapon at one point.
The minute-long footage shows the younger man – allegedly a NSW Police employee and special constable – hitting the older man over the head with the milk, causing it to explode all over them.
The spilt milk caused the men to slip to the ground, where they wrestled for several seconds before the older woman jumps in.
The woman – alleged to be a 57-year-old – can be seen placing her hands around the older man’s throat and pushing his head as he continued to wrestle with the younger man.
The entire incident was caught on camera, and only came to an end when a fourth shopper jumped in and pulled the men apart.
A 34-year-old male special constable attached to a specialist command – a NSW Police security role with responsibility for safety and security at key NSW Police Force premises – has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and affray.
A 57-year-old woman has been charged with the same offences and both are to appear at Burwood Local Court for mention on September 4.
The male special constable’s employment status is under review.
