A strike force has swooped on a man charged after a string of robberies at fast-food burger and pizza restaurants across western Sydney during a terrifying 16-day spree.

A man has been charged following a string of robberies at fast-food burger and pizza restaurants across western Sydney during a terrifying 16-day spree.

Detectives launched Strike Force Fairbank after multiple McDonald’s restaurants were robbed across Sydney in August.

Officers were told a man would storm the outlets, dressed in dark clothing, allegedly threaten staff and demand cash before fleeing the scenes.

The man allegedly hit McDonald’s restaurants in Bass Hill, Punchbowl, Kellyville, Campsie, Greenacre, Merrylands, Belmore and Belfield between August 14 and August 30.

He has also been accused of robbing a Pizza Hut in Chester Hill.

Investigations led strike force detectives, with assistance from Raptor Squad, to a Greenacre home on Friday.

During a search of the home, detectives located and seized a scooter and clothing believed to have been used in the offence.

A 27-year-old man was arrested during the search and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with eight counts of robbery and breaking and entering a dwelling house with intent to steal.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Bankstown Local Court the same day.
