The daughter of convicted killer Chris Dawson has written a message about pain and suffering just a day after he was found guilty of murdering her mother.
In a cryptic post on Facebook, Shanelle Dawson, 44, shared an excerpt from a book focusing on overcoming pain and finding hope.
The post was flooded with messages of support for Ms Dawson, who friends described as “brave” and “constantly in our thoughts”.
“It’s still possible in the end to realise why you are here and why you have endured, and why you might have suffered so much,” the excerpt from Still Possible by David Whyte read.
“Out of darkness, from that great and spacious stillness inside you, to the simple, light-filled life of being said.”
Ms Dawson’s post was made less than a day after her 74-year-old father was led from a courtroom in handcuffs after a judge ruled he did kill her mother Lynette in 1982.
“Thinking of you Shanelle, with lots of love, keeping you in my thoughts and heart,” one friend wrote.
“All the strength and love to you daily stepping forward,” another said.
Ms Dawson thanked friends for their messages of support and said it “inspires those of us when we forget to”.
Now a mother herself, Ms Dawson was just four-years-old when her mum vanished from their northern beaches home.
She told The Australian’s podcast The Teacher’s Pet that her mum was rarely spoken of, and that their babysitter ‘JC’ was her ‘new mum’.
“We didn’t mention my mother,” Shanelle said told The Teacher’s Pet.
“There was, I don’t really know why, but just this really uncomfortable silence.”
Ms Dawson was not in court for the trial nor the verdict.
