A Camperdown man alleged to have targeted more than 80 cars parked on Sydney streets during a graffiti spree has been granted bail.

Alex Mucibabic, 49, faced Parramatta Bail Court via video from the Surry Hills police station on Saturday after he was charged with 23 counts of destroying or damaging property the afternoon prior.

Mr Mucibabic is alleged to have targeted luxury cars across Sydney’s inner west and east — including Kings Cross, Surry Hills and Leichhardt — between August 19 and 28.

He has only been charged in relation to 23 of the cars damaged but police received 87 reports of cars being damaged in the same fashion.

Parramatta Bail Court was told Mr Mucibabic is expected to have further charges laid in relation to the other cars allegedly involved in the future.

He has not entered a plea to any of the charges.

Parramatta Bail Court was told on Saturday the incidents appeared unprovoked and Mr Mucibabic had been identified through CCTV footage.

The court was told Mr Mucibabic had been diagnosed with schizophrenia but was not medicated at the time of the alleged offences.

Mr Mucibabic told his lawyer he had very little memory of the alleged incidents and often hears voices in his head telling him to go for a walk at night.

The court was told Mr Mucibabic was regularly seeing a psychologist and was in the process of joining the NDIS.

He had been on a disability support pension for more than a decade.

Mr Muciabic was granted bail with conditions of a curfew between 8pm and 9am, prohibited from possessing paint cans, to report to Glebe police station twice a week and to attend a Camperdown mental health facility.

He has also been banned from the areas the cars had been graffitied.

Mr Muciabic will next face court at the Sydney Downing Centre on September 6.
