Police have released CCTV footage of a vehicle as part of a fresh appeal for information on the shooting murder of Adnan Salameh in 2020.
The 30-year-old died in a hail of bullets in front of his girlfriend at his Tregear home in the early hours of November 30.
At least two home invaders had kicked open the front door of his Rymill St granny flat and shot him dead over what police believe was a small drug debt.
Despite extensive inquiries over the past year, including a renewed appeal for information last August, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad have not made any arrests.
Strike force detectives have, however, identified a vehicle of interest which was seen in CCTV footage travelling in the surrounding areas around the time the shooting took place.
The light-coloured 2001-2005 model Toyota Camry sedan with distinct five-spoke aftermarket wheels was seen travelling in the area around the time of the murder.
Adnan’s father Adel Salameh issued a statement on Monday begging the public for help.
“We miss Adnan very much and our lives have not been the same since we lost him,” he said.
“We loved him dearly and our hearts are broken forever.
“If you have any information, for our sake, please contact police.”
Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said investigators believed identifying the owner or occupants of the Camry could be the breakthrough they needed.
“This has been a long and complex investigation which has seen detectives explore several lines of inquiry and new leads generated from several public appeals,” Det Supt Doherty said.
“As a result of these inquiries, detectives believe the vehicle depicted in the CCTV is of interest – captured on Rymill Rd at Tregear, near where Adnan was brutally murdered inside his own home.
“We’re urging anyone with information about that car, the identity of the owner or those seen inside the vehicle, to come forward and contact police,” Det Supt Doherty said.
Investigations under Strike Force Chatelaine are continuing.
Anyone with information that may assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
