FEEL like you need to get something off your chest but don’t know who to tell?
An app launched in Australia earlier this month might just be the answer.
Available on iPhone and Android, Secret allows its members to share their deepest, darkest and most embarrassing secrets — all while maintaining their anonymity.
Users post Twitter-length messages knowing that their identity will not be exposed. And the results are honest, shocking and routinely hilarious.
Twitter and Facebook users tend to present their proudest, cleverest and most impressive moments, while Instagram profiles are pretty much one big brag.
Secret positions itself as an antidote to these social media, aiming to be the place where people can truly be themselves.
“We built Secret for people to … share anything they’re thinking and feeling with their friends without judgment,” the site’s homepage says.
“We did this by eliminating profile photos and names and by putting the emphasis entirely on the words and images being shared. This way, people are free to express themselves without holding back.”
A few months since its US launch, Secret already has a strong following, particularly among the tech-savvy workers in California’s Silicon Valley, where it is the place to learn industry gossip.
Now, people from the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia have the chance to vent their spleens, guilt free.
We’ve scoured the app and found of the best revelations.
