IT was a crash that wouldnÂt normally require police to attend, but in this case they were already there - and a little red-faced.
Dashcam footage has recorded a police van from Parramatta crashing into the back of a number of vehicles stopped at a red light at the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Toongabbie Road in Toongabbie on Sunday.
A couple of cars had slowed to stop at a changing light but the driver of the police vehicle appears to have been distracted and not noticed the traffic stopping.
It slammed into the back of a Mitsubishi seden which in turn crashed into the back of a small red car that was pushed through the intersection by the impact.
The footage, uploaded to Dashcam Owners Australia, has been viewed almost 100,000 times since Sunday.
A police spokesperson confirmed the crash and said nobody was injured in the collision.
Details between drivers of the three cars were exchanged and the crash was considered minor.
The spokesperson said the officer driving the police vehicle had been spoken to after the incident and that it was now under review.
