3D TV may have made video games leap off the screen, but now Virtual Reality is going to put you in the game. Here’s PlayStation’s big plans.

3D TV may have made video games leap off the screen, but now Virtual Reality (VR) is going to put you in the game.

Sony Playstation announced a slew of popular gaming titles and features coming to their recently revealed Playstation VR headset.

The device uses high-definition screens, built-in headphones and motion sensors, which change what you see when you move your head, to immerse players inside a 3D world.

Fighting series Tekken 7, racer Gran Turismo Sport and the sequel to the critically acclaimed survival horror game Until Dawn will all get the VR treatment.

The announcement made at Paris Games Week cements the Playstation VR as being the first fully-fledged VR device for the home.

Playstation Managing Director Michael Ephraim told AAP the Playstation VR will “completely” change the way we play games.

“This is 360 — everywhere you look you’re in the game ... We think it’s the biggest change in gaming we’ve ever seen,” he said.

“VR has blown away expectations.” Also shown was the Playstation VR’s potential to change how we watch movies, with a trailer for film The Walk featured.

About highwire walker Philippe Petit who walked between the Twin Towers in New York, the VR device offers viewers a unique first-person perspective to the film’s daunting visuals.

The Playstation VR will be released early-2016 with a price yet to be announced.
