But it was news she has been cleared of a serious leg injury that had the Flames management smiling on Monday.

Captain Belinda Snell is expecting the WNBA player to be back at training this week after corking her shin in the Flames’ win over the Boomers on Friday night.

It was this game which earned Taylor Player of the Week honours as she racked up 20 points and made seven rebounds and seven assists.

“She brings a lot of energy and athleticism to the game and she’s been playing great,’’ Snell said

Taylor’s input has been a mitigating factor in the resurgence of the team many believe is now a serious contender for Sydney’s first WNBL crown since the 2000/01 season.

The Flame’s credentials will be tested again this Sunday when they host defending WNBL champions, Townsville Fire, for the third of four outings this season.

Both sides have taken a win off the other this season with Fire beating the Flames in an overtime thriller in round five.
