OUR experts give you an early shot at finding a winner as they look at the major races around the nation.
Last week ... Lincoln Moore went back to back with his best bet when Raven’s Fire ($3) scored a good win at Morphettville, while Nic Ashman (Lie Direct, $4.60) and Darren Prendergast (Thronum, $3.30) steered punters in the right direction on a tricky day at Randwick. The Early Oil expert Michael Manley (Royal Rapture, $2.80) and Chris Vernuccio (Ulmann, $3.50) continued their good recent form and kept the winners flowing at Flemington.

NIC ASHMAN & SHAYNE O’CASS’S WEEKEND PREVIEW
ROSEHILL
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 1527x
EXTENSIBLE
Race 1, No. 6
Was a beaten favourite when third to Harlem Lady when second-up over 1500m last start. Extensible is fitter for two runs from a spell, is perfectly drawn, has Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle and is well suited coming back slightly in distance. She is ready to win.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.60
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 72522
KANGARILLA JOY
Race 8, No. 10
Resumes here for Team Snowden and resumes from a spell after running second in a Group 2 before running fifth at Randwick back in March. Prepared for this with a second in an 850m R’wick barrier trial July 15. Unbeaten fresh and won’t have a problem with the track being rain-affected. Will keep these very honest.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.20
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 45632
SENSE OF OCCASION
Race 7, No. 8
Has been primed for this winning a Gosford 1000m trial win over reigning Queen Elizabeth Stakes victor Lucia Valentina. That’s a strong form pointer and is proven first-up. Won’t mind sting out of surface either.
TAB Fixed Odds: $21
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: x2838
SARAJEVO
Race 8, No. 7
Have no doubt that if the best Sarajevo ever turned up at the races, he would win a major — Group 2 maybe even. So if he can run up to the second of his two trials when it counts on Saturday, he will be winning and winning big. I have a hunch and still some faith that the real Sarajevo will step off the float on Saturday.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8

CAULFIELD
MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 15463
SNOOPY (Scratched)
Race 8, No. 9
Might be too fast, too classy for this lot fresh. Great draw, should own the race.
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: x2321
KANIANA
Race 2, No. 7
Has had little luck at her past two runs. Step up to 1600m is ideal and should be able to settle closer in the run. With only 52.5 kilos after claim for Mick Dee will prove hard to beat.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.90
DARLY TIMMS (Herald Sun). Form: 26224
SNOOPY (Scratched)
Race 8, No. 9
Excellent first-up record, drawn perfectly and on the minimum headquarters.
SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 61x24
PRINCE OF BROOKLYN
Race 9, No. 8
Barrier a huge concern but this guy must breakthrough soon. Desperately unlucky last start and should have won when second here on July 30. Track bias late in day will be factor, but if they are running on, he’s the one. Ollie takes the ride, too.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 12221
LEICA DAY
Race 3, No. 4
Returned in great order and should have finished closer to stablemate Ulmann, who is flying at the moment. That form reads extremely well in a race of few chances.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.50
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 62322
FAST ‘N’ ROCKING
Race 8, No. 1
He’s on his last chance but looks well placed to win his first race since he held off The Quarterback on October 14 last year.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.80
DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 56431
SUAVITO
Race 7, No. 12
Classy mare with outstanding record at Caulfield, including first-up win in the G1 Orr Stakes in February. Is yet to miss a place in eight starts at this track and distance and will be right in the mix again here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.80
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
EAGLE FARM
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 2x430
ONE INCH PUNCH
Race 7, No. 3
Big win here last time when downing the in-form Monster Of Energy on heavy ground. Has been kept fresh since then, so anticipating the 1400m to suit again.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 24262
VICTORY DOWNS
Race 3, No. 4
Talented galloper who was an impressive winner here two starts back then didn’t have a lot of luck at Flemington last time. Has a great record on the Parks circuit with two wins and a placing from three starts and looks well placed in this with the 2kg claim for Emily Finnegan.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 62711
WAR THUNDER
Race 6, No. 3
Progressive sprinter who was perfectly ridden off a hot speed to win smartly last time.
Looks to have come back in great order after a very good campaign earlier in the year and should take some beating again here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.40
