HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS
ROSEHILL
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 05187
THURSTON
Race 8, No. 15
Thurston was slow to begin last start and settled a clear last before making his run through the field from the turn. He struck trouble most of the way to the line and was never really fully extended. Eye-catching effort at Randwick, his second-up statistics are very good and he will appreciate getting out to 1800m. Thurston is first emergency but if he gains a start is tremendous value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $12
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 444x6
BETTER NOT BLUE
Race 6, No. 3
Trained by Michelle Ritchie, this gelding ran on gamely at the metro meeting at Hawkesbury in April. Gave them a big start and hit the line well behind Le Cordon Bleu on May 21 and drops a long way in class here. Likes a wet track should get conditions to suit here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 0x333
DISGRACEFUL
Race 6, No. 4
Gets the chance to atone with form jockey Koby Jennings taking the reins and is drawn to advantage in this big field. In the money nine of 10 tries this distance range. Go well.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 290x4
DISGRACEFUL
Race 6, No. 4
This Chris Waller-trained gelding is third-up off back-to-back seconds at Rosehill and Randwick. He came from way back both times and was only beaten 0.5-lengths and a nose by two pretty good types. A Redoute’s Choice half to former champion 2YO filly Hasna, Disgraceful is perfectly capable of handling the big weight and this is his distance range.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4
DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 547x2
VANDERKEMP
Race 5, No. 6
Promising three-year-old with two wins and two seconds from four starts. Last start was edged out by Yuma Desert who backed up the form by winning well at Randwick last weekend. Great chance to add to his win tally here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50

MOONEE VALLEY
MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 41831
KIEVANN
Race 9, No. 9
Excellent first-up and loves track. Hard to toss.
TAB Fixed Odds: $9.50
DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun) Form: 34252
SCHOCKEMOHLE
Race 2, No. 5
Gets a 2.5kg weight swing on favourite Nesbo. Jump from 1600m to 2040m suits.
TAB Fixed Odds: $9
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun) Form: 763x3
NICOSCENE
Race 9, No. 5
Track specialist resuming from a spell. Trialled well recently at Flemington and $8.50 appeals as nice each-way value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 70090
BLACK STARDOM
Race 2, No. 3
Racing well and no reason why cannot salute again. Drawn to get all the favours.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 02260
CHANCE TO DANCE
Race 8, No. 4
Was flying home in his return but had too much ground to make up. Last prep he defeated The United States at the Valley over 1600m.
TAB fixed odds: $4.60

IPSWICH
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Frm: 52118
SALMANAZAR
Race 2, No. 11
Trainer was desperate for him to get a crack at the Queensland Guineas last week but he didn’t make the cut. Now comes back to a vastly inferior race and looks well placed off the inside after two easy Provincial wins this time in.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.50
BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: x2900
MANDRYKA
Race 5, No. 17
Pretty weak race the Provincial Stayers Series Final and I’m just hoping one comes out so that first emergency Mandryka gets a run. He has had a funny prep but he has always promised a lot and I think the step up to 2200m is what he is looking for. Should sit handy and get the last crack at them in a race where they shouldn’t go hard. Daph ‘N’ Alf at $41 is also over the odds in Race 7.
TAB Fixed Odds: $13

MORPHETTVILLE
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 33x15
TILDY LAD
Race 6, No. 2
A lot to like about the way he flashed home first-up from a long break. Has always shown plenty of promise and looks to be back to somewhere near his best. Has been placed second-up and looks super each-way value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8

ROYAL ASCOT
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 93515
HOLLER
Race 4, No. 2
Star Aussie looks a terrific chance at double figure odds in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
TAB Fixed Odds: $9
