HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS

DOOMBEN

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 40116

BLUE DESERT MOON

Race 1, No. 4

$8 available at the moment and can see her starting much shorter if all is in order after the first up mishap. Just have to be forgiving of what happened at Caloundra. Everything she had done prior to that indicates she’s a way above average short course performer. Can give these something to chase.

TAB Fixed Odds: $8

BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail). Form: 10x05

COUNTERATTACK

Race 7, No. 12

Enticing double-figure around for the Chris Waller 3YO who is now bridging the gap between potential and performance. Huge run behind stablemate Japonisme (the BTC Cup fave) in the Arrowfield last month. Tricky gate but will be charging home and can win given any luck.

TAB Fixed Odds: $8

BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 136x2

RULING FORCE

Race 3, No. 1

Yes, I know Elegant Composure has won six from six and is obviously the one to beat again but this is her biggest test and her sectionals to date haven’t been outstanding and I’m happy to play around her at the price. There’s nothing wrong with Ruling Force’s form and I think he is a better horse at 1350m rather than a mile. Drawn to get a suck run and can give this a shake at double figures.

TAB Fixed Odds: $10

SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 21036

ARTLEE

Race 7, No. 6

Massive run last start when third to Fell Swoop in Victory Stakes at Doomben. That performances augurs well for this. Underrated.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9

MORPHETTVILLE

BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 65301

SPIRIT OF ENDEAVOUR

Race 3, No. 6

Good winner under these conditions two starts back then not disgraced in Listed company last time. Expect him to be finishing his race off strongly and looks great value at good double-figure odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 82332

SHEEZ ON TOP

Race 3, No. 3

Consistent local mare who has been in the money at 30 of 52 starts. Back to winning form at Murray Bridge in style, draws OK here and sure to take some beating.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 12276

TARQUIN

Race 7, No. 3

Relished the step up to 2000m and beat the older horses convincingly. Back to own age and drawn well to run out the 2500m.

TAB fixed odds: $7

SCONE

NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: 81021

BROOK ROAD

Race 8, No. 3

1100m specialist that has been performing well over 1200m. Big track, speed on and drawn to get a smother.

TAB Fixed Odds: $8

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 64443

IN A WINK

Race 7, No. 13

Trained by Greg Bennett, she has been very consistent and comes into this after a game fast-finishing minor placing in the Tamworth Cup last time out. Has the services of champion country jockey Greg Ryan and looks great value at the current $13.00 on offer.

TAB Fixed Odds: $13

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 08782

SENSE AND REASON

Race 7, No. 12

How about a $51 winner? You know at these country carnivals that something always lobs at huge odds and this is the one. Enter Waller and Sense And Reason. This Nick Moraitis-bred mare is a five-time winner with earnings of close to $350,000. She is a multiple city winner and has run in just three stakes races before Saturday. She is 8s 1-0-1 fresh but 5s 2w with one under the belt.

TAB Fixed Odds: $51

CAULFIELD

MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 010x1

TADDEI TONDO

Race 8, No. 5

If track plays to form, you can envisage winners storming home out wide off a strong tempo. This should suit Taddei Tondo

TAB Fixed Odds: $21

DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun) Form: 82113

LORD DURANTE

Race 9, No. 8

Handy off-season galloper that almost nabbed Charmed Harmony last start and is ready to win. Goes forward and has the Gauch on board.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9

DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun). Form: 157x1

ABILITY

Race 7, No. 4

As the name suggests has plenty and well placed here.

TAB Fixed Odds: $4.80

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 08810

PILLY’S WISH

Race 8, No. 14

Consistent mare who will be suited by barrier one and drops to 54kg, the last time she carried that weight she got within 2.1 lengths of Fell Swoop and if she can repeat that performance she’ll be in the finish at double figure odds.

TAB Fixed Odds: $11
