Last week ... Our Adelaide men Ben Scadden and Lincoln Moore were on target with their value bets — War Thunder ($5.20) and Rothmoore ($8.50) — getting the cash. Chris Vernuccio stuck solid with Lord Of The Sky and was rewarded when the sprinter took out the Bletchingly Stakes at $8, while his Melbourne stablemate Simon Moy also got in on the action with Khutulun ($3.20) saluting. Michael Manley’s pick Perfect Lifeline ($8.50) was beaten a nose at Caulfield, while Darren Prendergast’s value selection, Ruling Dynasty ($31), flew home for third.

HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS
RANDWICK
NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: x4608
HOT HIT
Race 3, No. 7
Handy bush sprinter that made his run on the wrong part of the track here last start. Better drawn out wide and loves the wet.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 95070
THREE SHEETS
Race 3, No. 5
WE see the team of Jeremy Sylvester and Robert Thompson united again here, with this five-year-old gelding who scored impressively at Randwick on June 25. Worked home well for second in the Cessnock Jungle Juice Cup on a Heavy (8) on July 5. This is his pet trip and he loves the wet. Expecting a huge show.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: x7737
SNIPPS PARADE
Race 4, No. 4
Slightly below his best at Moruya last time when a beaten favourite. These Highway Handicaps are a deadset lottery but being a son of noted mud lark Snippetson is great each-way value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 9x964
FIREBIRD FLYER
Race 1, No. 3
Like the look of Firebird Flyer, who is aiming for three straight here after saluting at WF and at HQ after that over the mile and 2000m respectively. That last win was on July 9 but she’s been back to the trials since and ran 3rd beaten 6.3-lens in quite pleasing fashion. She is 2s 1-1-0 at Randwick and is 1s 1w on Randwick heavy 9 last start to the races.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.60
DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 23413
VIADUCTRESS
Race 8, No. 8
Backing up after running fifth first-up at Rosehill last Saturday, which indicates the mare has done well during the week. Boasts solid second-up record and gets added weight relief with Deanne Panya in the saddle.
TAB Fixed Odds: $11

FLEMINGTON
MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 86785
MR CHARD
Race 7, No. 7
In the veteran stage but member of astute Tony McEvoy stable. Just beaten by Tiger Tees in this race two years ago.
TAB Fixed Odds: $21
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun) Form: 2x392
MY SISTER LIL
Race 8, No. 2
Has been $12 into $9 but still makes appeal at those odds. Not much went right last start at Caulfield and last time in finished within a half a length of Azkadellia over 1400m at Caulfield.
TAB Fixed Odds: $9
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun) Form: x7094
TREVINDER
Race 6, No. 4
Appears to have gone to another level. Good second in Group race at last start.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 97473
MISS SOFTHANDS
Race 8, No. 1
Classy mare who caught the eye when resuming from a spell and has an excellent second-up up record with two wins and a placing in four previous attempts.
In well at the weights after the claim and will be hard to beat.
TAB Fixed Odds: $9

EAGLE FARM
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 82000
THE MONSTAR
Race 6, No. 2
Both runs in Queensland have been good and proven wet tracker if the rain comes (and we have seen how quickly this surface deteriorates). Will be on speed and gets some handy weight relief here against key rivals that have had plenty of recent racing.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8
BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 05404
NAKANAI
Race 8, No. 17
Gone pretty rough here but I thought Nakanai was worth $1 each-way at a massive price. His run two back was good and then he was warming up at the finish last time out. The new Eagle Farm should suit him and he is simply over the odds at $81. He should be half that.
TAB Fixed Odds: $81
SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 200x1
THE MONSTAR
Race 6, No. 2
Has never won at distance but gets a little bit of weight relief here. Seems to be really enjoying his new abode and don’t be surprised if he makes his presence felt if track is wet.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8

MORPHETTVILLE
SPORTSMAN PREVIEW: MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 63371
TYCOON SOFIE
Race 5, No 4
Smart mare who’s yet to miss a place from six starts and tuned up for this with a trial placing (admittedly beaten seven lengths) behind the flying Viddora. Gets the services of top jockey Jason Holder and should be in the firing line for a long way.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.80
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 35231
AZURITE
Race 1, No. 1
Former import having his second preparation for Tony McEvoy.
Was I the market in much better races last campaign and resumes on the back of a very good trial. Sure to give this a big shake.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 43481
BEIRUT
Race 7, No. 11
Also nominated for the Group 3 Aurie’s Star at Flemington, but this race looks a lot easier for the in-form mare.
TAB fixed odds: $4.80
