SATURDAY MEETINGS (AEST Times)

EAGLE FARM (10 races, 11am),

RANDWICK (9 races, start 11.25am),

FLEMINGTON (9 races, start 11.40am),

MORPHETTVILLE (8 races, start 12.23pm),

BELMONT (8 races, start 1.53pm).

HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS

RANDWICK

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 44x64

ROYAL ENGINEER

Race 3, No. 3

Justified his favourite quote when finishing too hard for an impressive win in 1200m Rosehill Highway Hcp in early May. Given a freshen-up prior to that and has followed the same procedure here. Will be hitting the line hard at the right end of this.

TAB Fixed Odds: $4.40

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 90x49

ELUSIVE RUNNER

Race 7, No. 9

The John Sargent-trained gelding looks to be in a very good place after two recent trials. The 1400m on his home track suits and will carry 53.5kg after the claim for a good young rider. Monitor market moves — I think there may be some support for him.

TAB Fixed Odds: $23

DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 47x24

METALLIC CROWN

Race 7, No. 4

Won the Ming Dynasty over this course and distance in the spring. Has improved with each run this time and has form combination of Chris Waller and Rory Hutchings. Strong chance.

TAB Fixed Odds: $6

FLEMINGTON

MATT STEWART (Herald Sun). Form: 18313

PAYROLL

Race 6, No. 7

Both runs excellent. Euro Angel has drawn bad gate, giving Payroll chance to knock her off.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9.50

DARLY TIMMS (Herald Sun) Form: 1744x

BULLPIT

Race 9, No. 11

Has good form up the Flemington straight and will take plenty of running down.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun) Form: 63x30

HEART OF A LION

Race 9, No. 8

Smart Adelaide sprinter who flew home to win his last start at home. Likes it wet, has Oliver on and drawn out in barrier 19 which should be ideal at the end of the meeting. $12 looks nice value.

TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 35157

CLIFF HANGER

Race 1, No. 2

Progressive colt from the Freedman stable who broke through at Sale last start.

Has already been the subject of support backed from $7 into $5 but still looks a nice each-way bet to start the day.

TAB Fixed Odds: $9

SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 00902

RELDAS

Race 9, No. 1

Fitter for this and sure to benefit from wide gate late in the day. Looks well over the odds here.

TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50

EAGLE FARM

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 21182

DECONSTRUCTED

Race 2, No. 6

Disappointed when last seen, which was way below his promising best from previous preparation. Now arrives off a 63-day break on a track that will suit better than Doomben. The 1400m fresh will suit and the $17 represents a big inflation on what his best form suggests he’s capable of.

TAB Fixed Odds: $3.50

BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 29005

BENZINI

Race 6, No. 2

I’m surprised that Benzini isn’t the favourite, and the $4 looks enticing. Yes, he goes up 3.5kg on his Brisbane Cup win but Junoob and Index Linked go up 1kg each as well. He was dominant in the Brisbane Cup and he has carried 60kg to victory in New Zealand before so the 58kg won’t bother him. Can win again.

TAB Fixed Odds: $3.80

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 22605

CRADLE ME

Race 8, No. 4

Outstanding win last start in the Dane Ripper, her time wasn’t much slower than what they ran in the Stradbroke. Has to be a big chance to knock off the favourite.

TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50

MORPHETTVILLE

BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 2043x

OUR EXCHANGE

Race 6, No. 7

Returned to racing in good form this campaign, finishing close-up twice at Morphettville before breaking through for a win at Murray Bridge against sound opposition last time. Handles soft ground and expect her to be prominent for a long way with promising apprentice Matthew Poon in the saddle.

TAB Fixed Odds: $8
