Melbourne Cup 2021: Full field, barrier draw and jockeys revealed

The field and barrier draw for the Melbourne Cup has been set — but the highly-anticipated race was dealt some late drama.

Racing punters were furiously studying the form guide after the full field and barrier draw for the Melbourne Cup were laid out.

The barrier draw took place at around 5.30pm (AEDT) at Flemington last Saturday after the Victoria Derby Day races were run.

Defending champion Twilight Payment drew Barrier 2, while Caulfield Cup winner Incentivise will need to overcome a wide barrier after drawing Barrier 16.

However, even with the less-than-ideal barrier, Incentivise remains the dominant favourite at $2.80 for the race that stops a nation.

Outsider Future Score was a late scratching when vets ruled him out after a check-up on Tuesday morning.
