JUST watch this.
Assistant trainer Robin Trevor-Jones must have been hopeful Red Cadeaux’s time had finally come. Lining up in his fourth Melbourne Cup — and after finishing second twice before in 2011 and 2013— it looked hopeful of finishing first up until about 200m out when Protectionist took the lead.
Nine-year-old Red Cadeaux eventually finished second. Again.
The reaction of Trevor-Jones says it all.
