COOPER Cronk wasn’t the only Roosters grand final hero playing with broken bones in last night’s decider against the Storm.
Star winger Blake Ferguson played most of the second half with a broken leg.
The NSW Origin star, who is set to join Parramatta in the off-season, celebrated last night’s 21-6 win on crutches and in a moonboot after fracturing his fibula.
The Dally M winger of the year began hobbling in the 58th minute after teammate Jospeh Manu managed to stop a certain Cameron Munster try by ripping at the Storm player’s ball-carrying arm.
Many scooped up the loose ball before offloading to Ferguson who tried to make a break up field before being brought down by Josh Addo-Carr.
Although the tackle seemed inocuous Fergusom immediately signalled for help from a trainer after playing the ball. He then saw out the remainder of the match.
Ferguson, who ran for 161m against Melbourne, will join Cronk on the list of Roosters who played through horrible injuries during deciders.
Cronk was touch-and-go to play in the grand final after injuring his shoulder in the grand final qualifier against the Rabbitohs last week.
Roosters coach Trent Robinson revealed last night after the Roosters win that Cronk had in fact fractured his scapula and decided to play anway.
Shaun Kenny-Dowall played 75 minutes of the Roosters 2013 grand final against the Sea Eagles with a broken jaw.
