An online petition with more than 1700 signatures calling for Todd Carney to play in the rugby league Nines has Raiders captain Jarrod Croker’s approval, now Canberra have responded.

Canberra won’t invite ex-Raider Todd Carney to play in next month’s rugby league Nines in Perth despite calls to give the Dally M medal winner a reprieve.
An online petition has generated more than 1700 signatures calling for Carney to play at the Nines.

Carney cheekily tagged in Canberra in a tweet on Wednesday:

Raiders captain Jarrod Croker also commented on the Carney petition post, saying: “I agree give the man a run.”
Despite Croker’s endorsement, Canberra has no intention of bringing back Carney for the Nines tournament that will run from February 14-15.
Prizemoney of $1 million will go on the line while a $1 million bonus is available for any men's team that can win both the Nines and NRL premiership this season.
