Josh Addo-Carr asks RLPA for help as he looks to break away from management company

With the window to switch to a Sydney club for season 2020 closing rapidly, Melbourne flyer Josh Addo-Carr has turned to the RLPA in a bid to resolve a dispute with his player agent.

Melbourne’s Josh Addo-Carr has turned to the Rugby League Players Association in a bid to expedite a divorce from his player manager Chris Orr.

The latest development is an escalation in the Storm flyer’s dispute with Pacific Sports Management – who negotiated his current deal at Melbourne.

The NSW Blues winger has agreed to pay a fee in the vicinity of $20,000 to $30,000 to terminate his current contract Orr.

It’s believed Addo-Carr has grown increasingly frustrated with the time it has taken to finalise the split between the two parties. But a resolution could be reached as early as next week.

The longer it takes for Addo-Carr to break away from Orr, the harder it will be for the Kangaroos winger to leave Melbourne ahead of the 2020 season.

Addo-Carr is contracted until the end of season 2021 at the Storm but the club has agreed to conditionally release him at the end of this year on compassionate grounds.

With a growing family, Addo-Carr is eager to set-up home in Sydney close to his support network.

There has been no shortage of interest in Addo-Carr from Sydney clubs.

The Sydney Roosters, Canterbury Bulldogs, St George Illawarra Dragons, West Tigers and even the South Sydney Rabbitohs have all reportedly expressed a level of interest in securing the services of Addo-Carr.

But until the dispute with Orr is resolved, it’s unlikely Addo-Carr can seriously explore any of the interest from rivals, particularly for this season.

However, a move could still happen before the start of 2020 if the requirements of all parties are met.

The Storm will only let Addo-Carr leave immediately if a rival is willing to offer up a player in return that is deemed to be of similar quality to the representative star.

Addo-Carr reportedly first started growing frustrated during State of Origin camp when he discovered another representative winger was making around $550,000 a season compared to his current deal of $300,000 at Melbourne.
