QUEENSLAND Origin legend Johnathan Thurston has slammed the decisions made by Maroons players during key moments of Sunday's clash against the Blues.
Thurston was speaking during Channel Nine's post-match coverage when he unloaded on the Maroons.
"(I'm) dumbfounded how Queensland played for 10 minutes," Thurston said.
"A centre going off for 10 minutes, I don't think they targeted that edge much.
"The first set they had, Ben Hunt kicks it dead. 20m restart. That is a brain explosion.
"Then Will (Chambers) picks up James Maloney and that was fourth tackle and slams him into the ground … Only 12 men and get the ball back and get another penalty.
"Like Joey (fellow commentator Andrew Johns) said, it was dumb footy.
"Full credit to the Blues that they defended well with everything Queensland threw at them. It was a massive learning curve for the halves and hooker."
They had to scrap and scramble to hold on but the Blues have come up with a four-point over Queensland in Origin II to win the match – and the series.
NSW win 18-14.

Thirty seconds on the clock and Ben hunt knocks on trying to collect a grubber on his own line.
NSW with a scrum feed. Just need to hang onto the ball to win this match – AND THE SERIES!
Roberts is back on with a minute to go. NSW just need to hang on!
Bit of game management from Maloney here as he puts the ball dead to chew up valuable seconds on the clock.
Queensland scrum on their own 10m line.
NSW skipper Boyd Cordner coming from the field for HIA so we won't see him back.
And there's a penalty to Queensland after Tyrone Peachey tried to trip Ponga. That'll be a fine.
Queensland march up field and NSW throw everything into defence. A horrible Maroons kick gives them a seven-tackle set.
