I agonised and resisted before doing what I thought impossible – toppling Greg Alexander as Penrith’s greatest player.
Sorry, Brandy.
Since he debuted in 1984, Alexander has long been accepted as the club’s finest player, a smidgen ahead of the great Brad Fittler.
So when tasked with naming Penrith’s greatest 20 players, in order, the thought of bumping Alexander was, quite frankly, confronting.

How do you ignore a halfback who has played 158 games for Penrith, scored 56 tries, kicked 584 goals for a total of 1409 points? And how do you overlook a player who had helped his Panthers to 111 wins at a remarkable success rate of 70.3 per cent?
Nathan Cleary, at 25, has now taken top spot, relegating Alexander to No.2 with Fittler a close third.
Alexander has even told friends he believes Cleary is now Penrith’s finest.

And remember, this list is based purely on playing for Penrith.
