Coach Justin Holbrook is reportedly about to be terminated by the Titans.

The embattled coach was left without answers after his team’s season slipped to a new low in a crushing 38-12 loss to Newcastle on Friday night.

The Daily Telegraph reports the Titans could sack Holbrook before their next match against the Broncos on July 16.

The Titans have lost 11 of their last 12 games and are anchored at the bottom of the NRL ladder.

There were expectations the Titans would take another step forward after they played finals football last year — but it has all gone horribly wrong this season.

With key players — including David Fifita — missing through injuries and new recruits failing to make an impact, Holbrook appears to be the one who will pay the price for such a disastrous year.

The newspaper report suggests the Titans have strict performance clauses written into Holbrook’s contract which will allow the club to avoid having to pay out the majority of the money left owing on the deal.

The Titans announced in 2020 Holbrook had signed a contract extension through to the end of the 2024 season.

Holbrook appeared at a loss for answers after the loss to the Knights where Edrick Lee scored five tries for the home team. .

“It was awful,” Holbrook said after the game.

“We didn’t know what we were doing out there (defence). We’ve got a lot to fix up.

“I am (lost for answers) tonight. In the last game we competed hard against the Sharks, then tonight we’re a million miles off. We have to look at the team and who’s running out there.

“There’s been a lot of things (go wrong). We’ve got guys in positions not doing their job well enough for the NRL.

“We’re so disappointed. We’ve got to make a few changes now and get back into it.”

Premiership winning coach Shane Flanagan last month declared the Titans finals hopes were over after a horrible 32-6 thrashing at the hands of North Queensland.
