Damien Cook, Anthony Seibold lead Rabbitohs race for Dally M awards
SOUTH Sydney supporters probably don’t feel like there is much worth cheering right now. But the NRL’s great overachievers of 2018 they should have plenty to celebrate on Wednesday night.

SOUTH Sydney supporters probably don’t feel like there is much worth celebrating right now. But when they have time to look back on what was expected of their team this year, they should be proud.
Not many tipped Souths to be in the top eight after two years of missing the finals, so to finish third, and on the same competition points as minor premiers the Sydney Roosters and Melbourne, is a wonderful effort.
There is no question they have been the NRL’s great overachievers this year and
for that reason I reckon they still will have plenty to celebrate at the Dally M awards on Wednesday night.

After all he achieved this year, Damien Cook would get my vote for Dally M Player of the Year and Anthony Seibold I think is a deadset certainty for Coach of the Year.
It’s important to remember the Dally Ms are judged on what happens during the 25 rounds of the regular season and not on the results during the finals.
Cook started the season trying to beat off the challenge from Robbie Farah for the Rabbitohs’ No.9 jumper but ended up starring in a NSW State of Origin victory.
Seibold was in his first year as an NRL head coach but the way he got the Rabbitohs believing in themselves and back to being a premiership force is testament to his ability.
The list of contenders for the Dally M Fullback of the Year highlights what an amazing season it has been.
For mine, James Tedesco would get the award just ahead of Valentine Holmes, and that’s leaving out Kalyn Ponga, who many are tipping to claim the top award after taking home the Players’ Player gong.
