The former Melbourne Storm player is facing six charges, including two counts of assaulting a police officer, after an alleged incident in Sydney early Monday following Australia Day celebrations.

The Raiders returned to training on Wednesday but the club confirmed 22-year-old Scott won’t rejoin the squad until next week.

Scott is due to face court on February 20.

Both the club and NRL integrity unit are investigating the incident and could hand down sanctions.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart and chief executive Don Furner have already expressed frustration over the matter which threatens to disrupt the team’s season start as they attempt to build on last year’s grand final appearance. Scott was signed on a four-year deal in the off-season for a reported $1.8 million and is seen as a key player for the club, who released former Dally M centre of the year Joey Leilua to join West Tigers last week. Canberra has historically taken a tough stance on poor off-field behaviour, sacking stars Todd Carney (2008) and Josh Dugan (2013).
