Police who arrested star Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott had their body-worn cameras rolling and senior officers were happy they followed procedure in the allegedly violent run-in.

Scott, 22, had allegedly spent a boozy Australia Day at CBD club Ivy and other hot spots including Bondi’s The Bucket List before falling asleep in bushes opposite the Sydney Cricket Ground where police were called just before 1am Monday.

Scott allegedly kicked and punched one of the officers who tried to wake him and threw a phone at a car before he was tasered and arrested.

A source close to Scott claimed to The Daily Telegraph the Raiders star recruit was handcuffed while asleep and therefore tasered after being physically restrained.

Police sources confirmed body-worn camera footage from the incident had been reviewed by senior officers who were satisfied the officers involved had followed strict protocol in arresting Scott.

The former Melbourne Storm centre was charged with six offences including two counts of assault police and resist officer in execution of duty.

He was granted bail to front Downing Centre Local Court on February 20.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart said the incident “pisses me off” but did not want to elaborate until he had the full facts of what occurred between police his 188cm new centre.

NRL boss Todd Greenberg will decide this week whether to use his discretionary power to stand Scott down until the criminal charges are resolved.

Social media posts tagged Scott and showed a group of Canberra Raiders players partying in Sydney on Australia Day.
Scott was also stopped outside the Clovelly Hotel by police doing random drug searches and was found to have nothing in his possession.
