New Australia women’s water polo coach Paul Oberman is forecasting an engrossing two-way battle for the 20 and under title at the Summer Slam in Brisbane from Monday.
The national coach, charged with finding Australia’s best talent for a shot at a medal at the Paris Olympics, has been at the event for the last week monitoring the progress of the rising stars of the game.

In the 20s and under competition, Oberman, a former assistant coach with the Sharks for more than a decade, will be watching the best and brightest talent from across the country and some of the young guns who have already earned themselves a spot in his extended national squad.
Oberman said NSW is his tip to dominate the women’s event in Brisbane with Queensland also a shot at claiming the title.
“NSW are a really balanced team,” he said.
“They will be the ones to beat.
“But I wouldn’t out my house in it in a two-horse race.
“As we see in State of Origin league and other sports, Queenslanders see, to grow and extra leg in these situations. They never give up.”
NSW and Queensland are also expected to be dominant teams in the men’s competition at the event in Brisbane.
