NRL Schoolboys Cup live stream: Our top side from the Peter Mulholland Cup revealed

After a cracking season, which set a new benchmark in schoolboys rugby league, it all comes down to the Peter Mulholland Cup grand final. Ahead of the decider we reveal our top players of the year.

After 38 matches across three states and territories, the 2023 winners of the Peter Mulholland Cup will be decided on Wednesday when Westfields Sports High School take on Patrician Brothers Blacktown in the grand final.

The competition included 20 teams for the first time in it’s history, with an expanded four-team Victorian pool as well as the return of Matraville Sports High and inclusion of Central Coast Sports High.

Ahead of the blockbuster grand final on Wednesday, Daily Telegraph schoolboys rugby league expert Katrina May has compiled her team of the best players across all schools for the 2023 competition.

Westfields remains the only undefeated team in the competition and have showcased a massive pool of talent.

Winger Will Craig made himself known from the first match, scoring a hat-trick over Endeavour to aid in Westfield’s stunning comeback victory.

He’s scored 10 tries in five games so far including another hat-trick in the quarterfinal win over All Saints Maitland. Craig’s pairing with Australian schoolboy five-eighth Lachlan Galvin has been a pillar of Westfields offence.

Patrician Brothers Blacktown winger Jack Nicholas has been a consistent tryscorer for the side, including a spectacular four-try haul in the 64-6 thrashing of Victoria University Secondary College in the quarterfinals.

His teammate and Australian Schoolboy Wilson De Courcey has been a great addition to the team since his return from injury in the final pool round, scoring two tries in his comeback match against Endeavour and leading his team well through the finals stages.

Fullback Sam Gash was superb for Erindale as the Canberra side blitzed through the pool stages undefeated, downing reigning champions Patrician Brothers Fairfield along the way.

His seven-from-seven goals during the 50-0 thrashing of Matraville was topped off with two of his own tries, while dummy-half Xavier Cacciotti provided plenty of spark out of the ruck this season.

Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School were unlucky to not reach the quarterfinals due to a tightly contested Northern Pool, but Logan Spinks made the most of his opportunities in every game.

His amazing try during the 14-12 opening round loss to Hunter Sports High School was featured in our top 10 tries of the year.
