It was as if the weather knew what an important day it was, with the sunshine allowing for Campbelltown Stadium to be flooded with crowds.
Despite Westfields winning the second half 14-3, it was not enough to overcome their early deficit from the first 30 minutes, and will now be unable to defend their title as Schoolboy Cup champions.
It was the individual efforts of Westfields left wing Will Craig that kept them in contention, scoring two consecutive tries within two minutes in the second half, followed by a four-pointer from left center Roy Quiroz Mapusoa.
Patties came out with an explosive start, kicking off the semi-final double header with a bang.
Pumped up from the sound of their drums, scrum half Chad Daniels landed scored the first try of the game within the first three minutes.
Westfields second rower Solomone Saukuru put the school on the scoreboard, but two consecutive tries from Patties right wing Corey Leigh and left wing Noah Foona propelled them to a 12 point lead.
The relentless efforts of Westfieds cannot go amiss.
The speed of both Westfields fullback Luke Laulilii and right center Daniel Waqa was exceptional, with the agile players darting their way through the Patties ranks on multiple occasions.
