Bill Turner Cup Wrap: Endeavour Sports High v St Joseph’s Regional College
The first step in Endeavour’s quest to clinch the Bill Turner Cup after years of close calls has been ticked off with ease.
The Shire-based school have finished runners-up in the past two Cup finals, and are determined to shake the monkey from their back on Wednesday.
But fiurst they needed to make it to the big dance and they did it in style, cruising to a 6-2 win over St Joseph’s Regional College in the semi-finals.

While the opening stages were a real wrestle between the two sides, Endeavour’s skill shone through netting six goals before the halftime break.
Endeavour kicked three goals in a blistering 10 minutes before the main break including a ripper long-range effort from forward Emilio Peralta.
St Joseph’s refused to give up the fight after the break despite the daunting difference on the scoreboard, and netted a consolation goal late in the game through winger Josh Baxter.
Endeavour will play off against Queensland side Ipswich Grammar in the Cup grand final while St Joseph’s will meet Maribyrnong College in the third-place playoff on Wednesday.
Bill Turner Cup wrap: Ipswich Grammar v Maribyrnong
A heartbreaking error at the back has cost Maribyrnong a chance at having two teams in the Bill Turner School Football finals.
Ipswich Grammar will progress to the Cup final after holding out their Victorian rivals in a 2-1 thriller.

But it could have been a much different story after Maribyrnong fought their way back into the contest to draw level with their rivals late in the second half after an Anton Gray equaliser.
A full press off the kick-off from the Queenslanders applied the blowtorch to their rivals, with Maribyrnong making a mistake at the back that cost them dearly.
Ipswich forward Sam Stanway smothered a simple kick-out from Maribyrnong goalkeeper Jacob Buchanan, and recovered the ball in time to blast it into the back of the net.
The Reds dropped everyone behind the ball for the final 10 minutes, scrambling hard in defence to repel all of Maribyrnong’s raids and secure their place in Wednesday’s final.
Bill Turner Trophy Wrap - Westfields Sports High v Merewether High
A tournament-ending injury to exciting backline player Charley Cornwall is the only dampener on a near-perfect start to the national finals for Westfields Sports High.
Cornwall went down with a suspected leg injury late in the first half of the side’s clinical 9-0 semi-final win over Northern NSW side Merewether High.

The speedy back is unlikely to play any further part in Westfields quest for a fifth-straight Bill Turner Trophy after she was taken from the field in an ambulance.
The injury caused a minor delay in the semi-final proceedings, but it didn’t stop the machine-like performance from the Sydney juggernauts, who piled on four more goals after kicking five in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Winger Emily Cumming started the celebrations early when she converted a great opportunity on goal in the fifth minute, while the side plundered two goals in 60 seconds through Claire Corbett and midfielder Kiara Bonora midway through the first term.
Merewether competed until the final whistle, and threatened on goal at different points in the second half, but they struggled to match the four-time champions for pace on the edges.
Westfields Sports High will now face off against Victorian rivals Maribyrnong Secondary College in the Trophy grand final on Wednesday.
Merewether will meet Kelvin Grove State College in the third-place playoff.
Bill Turner Trophy Wrap - Maribyrnong v Kelvin Grove
A dynamic second-half performance has booked Victorian giants Maribyrnong Secondary College a shot at national glory in the Bill Turner Trophy.
The school’s girl’s side were dominant in the second-half as they kicked clear to a 4-0 semi-final win over Brisbane outfit Kelvin Grove State College.

The win was punctuated by a goal to striker Irene Razumic in the final play of the game, capping a three-goal second half performance which also included goals to Leyla Hussein and Alexis Pantazopolous.
The Maribyrnong side was strong in the first half, albeit struggled to capitalise on their field advantage in the first half-an-hour.
A power strike from Poppy O’Keefe from the edge of the 18-yard box netted the Victorian side their only goal in the first stanza, but the toll they had taken on the Kelvin Grove defence was obvious from the minute the teams returned from the break.
Maribyrnong cut swathes in the defence throughout the second-half, with the pace of their wings proving too hard to handle for the Queensland state champions.
Fullback Aeryn Tarrant was particularly impressive for the Victorian side, controlling the left wing with her pace and incising runs in behind the defensive line.
The Victorian side will move onto the national final on Wednesday, while Kelvin Grove will play-off for third place in the first game on Wednesday.
