The business end of the four-day basketball tournament has lived up to expectations with some superb deciders to close out proceedings. Check out all the REPLAYS.

An unanswered 14-point run midway through the third quarter has been the catalyst behind Central Districts Lions pulling off a stunning win in the boys under 18s at the SA State Junior Basketball Championships.

But it was their defensive effort which really shut down the Forestville Eagles as they turned a 26-32 deficit into a 40-32 lead.

The Eagles had appeared in control of proceedings, taking a seven-point buffer to the main interval. But when the Lions applied the blowtorch in the third quarter, Forestville had no answers.

They simply couldn’t penetrate the defensive wall set up by the Lions, let alone buy a rebound as their rivals poured on the points at the other end.

Although the Eagles reduced the margin to four points at the last change, the Lions were full of confidence as they again extended their lead in the final quarter, winning 61-52.

Bryce Sanders (17) and Deng Manyang (19) were the major scorers for the Lions, while Elijah Mackenroth (10) and Michael Herjok (12) had their moments.

Rio Brurton led the way for the Eagles with 17 points, with Jamie Mackenzie (13) and Mack Schaftenaar (10) also handy contributors.

After leading for most of the match, the Forestville Eagles narrowly avoided a double disaster when their girls escaped with a two-point victory in the same age group.

Leading by eight points going into the last quarter, the Eagles looked home but the North Adelaide Rockets had other ideas as they chipped away at the lead.

But the buzzer would beat them, the Eagles taking the spoils 64-62.

The Eagles had five scorers in double figures as they shared the workload, while Abbey Jones was the clear standout for the Rockets with 17 points.

The Eastern Mavericks have emerged from a titanic struggle to edge past the Norwood Flames to claim the girls’ under-16 crown.

With scores all tied up at 30 a piece at halftime, the Mavericks finished off the better to win 54-51 in an entertaining but fiercely contested final.

The boys’ under-16 final was even more compelling.

With Norwood Flames charging home to overrun the South Adelaide Panthers after trailing by seven points at the final change.

The Panthers dominated the last quarter and looked home when four points ahead before a desperate three-pointer to Norwood breathed life into the contest.

But the Flames were able to steady and go on and record a stunning 57-55 win.

The South Adelaide Panthers have shaken off a persistent Sturt Sabres to claim the boys’ under-12 title.

The contest was still up for grabs until the final seconds, with the Panthers getting the result 57-53.

In the girls division, the Norwood Flames pulled off a fabulous one-point victory when they beat the West Adelaide Bearcats 30-29.

The Panthers will feature across the boys semi-finals in both the Under-12 and Under-16 divisions after enjoying undefeated runs through the tournament in both age groups.

The LIVE action on a massive day will open with semi-finals from the Under-12 boys and girls state divisions followed by the Under-16 boys and girls state divisions.

Then it’s grand final time.

The Panthers, who were crowned boys state champion club last year, are hunting a potential state title treble with their Under-18 side also scraping through to the semi-finals after a late win on Saturday.

North Adelaide Rockets, who have also been strong contenders across multiple grades, will feature in both of the Under-12 state semi-finals to start the day, with their girls side taking on the West Adelaide Bearcats on court six.

The early semi-final showdowns will be followed by a couple of showcase matches before the grand finals get underway from 12.30pm.
