Western Australia boys have crunched one of their early rivals as Day 2 action on Court 9 in Bendigo reached boiling point. Check out all the REPLAYS as the nation’s best come together.

Western Australia boys have got off to an absolute flyer to their BA U16 National campaign, beating last year’s beaten finalists South Australia Country by 39 points.

Skipper Luke Paul hit 22 points and took down eight rebounds, while valuable contributions off the bench from Faitala Patu (18 points), Samuel Johnson (15 points) and John Aryang (13 points, nine rebounds) proved decisive.

SA Country had three players scoring 10+ points, led by Hudson Boal (12 and three rebounds) but they shot at only 33 per cent as a team and also found it hard to contain the WA Metro offensive game.

NSW Metro girls finished fourth at the 2023 BA U16 Nationals, but will be showing off a brand new team in Bendigo this year.

And coach Danielle D’Morias can’t wait.

NSW Metro face a real test when they tip off their campaign at 4pm on Sunday against a South Australia Country team led by the impressive Daisy Hocking.

“They have a natural style of play really compliments each others,” said D’Morias

“I’m excited to see what they all can do because this is their first time on the stage.”

The first of four games starts at midday and sees Western Australia Metro take on last year’s beaten boys finalists, South Australia Country.

SA Country have also undergone a generational change and will be turning to the likes of Hudson Boal and Oscar Potter for inspiration.

Tasmania boys will be looking to bounce back from their first-up loss to Victoria Country when they face NSW Country while Queensland North finish off the day at 6pm against Western Australia Country.

Every match of the BA U16 National Championships will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV from July 6-13.
