Some of the state’s top youth and senior players were out to keep their silverware hopes alive in eight massive match-ups from three venues. Check out the winners and losers in full REPLAYS.

Central Districts Lions have repelled a fierce third-quarter comeback from a determined Forestville Eagles to charge to a well-deserved victory in senior men reserves at the Basketball SA District League finals.

The Lions seemed in control at halftime with a seven-point advantage before the Eagles made a real contest of it as they drew level 60-all with a booming three-pointer on the three-quarter buzzer.

But the Lions dug deep and smashed out a 22-point final quarter to surge away from the stunned Eagles and record a 82-75 win on court four at the State Basketball Centre.

In the other match on court four, the Forestville Eagles thrashed the West Adelaide Bearcats by 24 points in the senior women reserves.

The forecast close contest never eventuated as the Eagles established a 19-point lead at halftime and they never relinquished it on their way to a 79-55 result.

The Woodville Warriors have packed a too bigger punch for the Central Districts Lions in their under-21 men’s match-up on court 1 at the Springbank Sports Centre.

The Lions showed plenty of fight to match their rivals after halftime, but damage was done in the first half and try as they might they simply couldn’t reduce the deficit in the back end of the game.

Although both teams scored 31 points apiece after the main break, the Warriors took the spoils 75-64.

In the later contest, the a committed North Adelaide outgunned West Adelaide en route to a 23-point thumping.

Only two points separated the teams at halftime before the Rockets unleashed a powerful back half to dismantle the wayward Bears for a 75-52 outcome.

In a fiercely contested match-up, the Forestville Eagles have narrowly eclipsed the West Adelaide Bearcats in the under-23 women on court 2 at The Lights Community and Sports Centre.

The Eagles held a two-point margin at halftime and just one point at the three-quarter time as their opponents refused to lie down.

It was only in the dying seconds that the Eagles pushed the margin out to four points for their 53-49 victory.

In the later match at the venue, the Sturt Sabres have blitzed the Southern Tigers by 28 points in their under-23 women clash.

The lopsided contest was arguably over at halftime with the Sabres 18 points up. The second half was more of the same as they cruised home for a 73-45 scoreline.

Sturt and Central District will play in the Basketball SA District League finals on Tuesday.

PREVIEW

Teams representing Central District, Forestville, Norwood, South Adelaide, Southern Tigers, Sturt, West Adelaide and Woodville in the U21, U23 and reserves grades will all compete on Tuesday to advance at the Springbank Sports Centre, State Basketball Centre and The Lights Community and Sports Centre.

The Sturt reserves women will aim to continue their strong form against Norwood from 6.30pm on court 5 at Wayville’s State Basketball Centre, having dominated against Forestville in a 28-point win last week.

The Eagles will have an opportunity to bounce back against West Adelaide in what should be a close affair on court 4.

Forestville will take on Central District in the men’s after fighting off a comeback by Woodville in round one, while Sturt will take on South Adelaide in a game which could go either way.
