Tasmania’s boys’ team has broken through for its first win of the Basketball Australia U16 National Championships in Victoria.

Five players scored double figures as Tassie secured a 96-85 win over South Australia Country to keep their quarter-finals hopes alive.

Harry Blyth continued his strong tournament with a team-high 18 points backed up by 11 rebounds and five assists to lead his side to the win.

Johnty Dynan produced an impressive performance of his own with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Ajay Blizzard stamped his authority on the contest off the bench with 15 points in 22 minutes.

They’ll now return to action on Wednesday at 12pm looking to cause an upset against Western Australia Metro.

DAY FOUR PREVIEW

If Vic Metro’s Basketball Australia Under-16 National Championships can follow a similar trajectory to Jasmine Jones’ own tournament, they’ll have no issues getting it back on track.

After going down to Queensland South on Tuesday, the Vics will be looking to bounce back to a 2-1 record by the end of Wednesday’s action.

Kilsyth representative Jones has made an impressive start to the competition in Bendigo, scoring seven points and recording five assists and steals in the opening game off the bench against WA Metro.

She was then thrust into the starting line-up against the Queenslanders and produced a similar stat line.

Her performance will be a key storyline in the clash which will headline a big day of action on Court 6 which includes games from both the girls and boys tournaments.

NSW Metro and ACT face off from 12pm before the SA Country and Tassie boys are in action at 2pm.

ACT boys side will then look to get the better of their NSW Country counterparts.
