Live stream: National Junior Classic top performers revealed

The National Junior Classic saw a number of stunning individual displays and team performances across the weekend. Here’s 30 future basketball stars who stood out.

The 2022 National Junior Classic has been run and won after an outstanding weekend of basketball.

The three-day competition saw a range of fantastic individual and team displays at the competition returned for the first time since 2019.

Along the way, several individuals put their names up in lights and earmarked themselves as stars of the future.

Here’s a look at our top performers from the weekend.

Mofeoluwa Adio, Casey under 12 boys

The Cavaliers young gun was dominant throughout the competition and scored 109 points in the final against South Adelaide. He also had 26 in the semi-final win over North Adelaide underlining his status as a player for the big stage.

Issasc Ayoubi, Sydney Comets under 18 boys

The Comets star had 107 points across the weekend highlighted by 25 in the quarter-final win over the Melbourne Tigers.

Cleo Barbakas, Nunawading under 14 girls

Babrakas has proven to be a performer for the big stage after scoring 27 points in the grand final win over Melbourne. She also had performances of 29 and 28 points during the competition.

Tabitha Betson, Bulleen under 18 girls

The heart and soul of the Boomers team which took out the crown. Betson’s impact was so much more than the 82 points she scored. She dominated on the boards too.

Tyler Biscette, North Adelaide under 12 boys

Biscette enjoyed a massive weekend where he scored 145 points in six matches including two games of more than 30 points.

Ryder Cheesman, Hawthorn under 16 boys

Cheesman won the grand final MVP to cap off a stunning weekend where he finished with 143 points.

Leo Clarke, South Adelaide under 12 boys

Despite his side going down in the final, Clarke can walk away with his head held high. He scored in double figures in every game to score 99 for the tournament.

Ethan Cleary, Bulleen under 12 boys

Scoring was made to look easy by Cleary across the weekend as he scored over 20 points four times with a one-game high of 25 in his last match.

Mia Cox, Bendigo under 12 girls

Cox finished with double figures in all but one game. Her ability to shine against the best was shown by 19 points — her best effort of the tournament — against eventual champions Kilsyth.

Isabelle Daly, Sturt under 14 girls

Daly only scored below 20 points once across the weekend with her best performance a 32-point outing against Illawarra. She scored 153 points in six games.

Bonnie Deas, Frankston under 18 girls

Deas finished with 106 points for the weekend which was highlighted by a monster 34-point display against Norwood.

Joel Foxwell, Bulleen under 18 boys

Foxwell’s top performance included 32 points against Sturt which helped him reach 132 points in six games. You can watch Foxwell’s top performance in the replay below.

Joaquin Gonzalez, Norths under 16 boys

The Bears were able to rely on Gonzalez for big performances across the weekend as he finished with 106 points including one 30-point game against Frankston.

Sienna Grieger, West Adelaide under 18 girls

One of the best shooters from deep across the weekend, Grieger’s last game included seven threes. She had opened the tournament with six.

Jessie-May Hall, Bankstown under 16 girls

One of the most prolific scorers across all age groups and divisions. Hall finished with 210 points from her six outings. She also had two 44-point efforts to start the weekend. Most of the work came from inside as she hit just 10 threes.

Jada Hill, Kilsyth under 12 girls

Hill’s weekend was highlighted by a high of 32 points against Camberwell as she reached double figures except for her side’s grand final win.

Daisy Hocking, Eastern Mavericks under 14 girls

Another big scorer with 144 points across her six outings. Hocking’s best was 32 points against Sandringham.

Coco Hodges, West Adelaide under 16 girls

Hodges shone on the big stage with 19 points in the grand final win over Eastern Mavericks to cap off an impressive weekend.

Lucas Li, Norwood under 14 boys

Li averaged 16 points across the tournament highlighted by a 26-point effort in the 3v4 playoff against Sandringham.

Liam Keogh, Kilsyth under 14 boys

The Cobras earned a fifth-place finish with Keogh playing a big role with 95 points in the five games he played.

James Mackenzie, Forestville under 16 boys

Mackenzie was a consistent scoring threat aas he finished with 101 points from his six outings.

Tamia Merrill, South Adelaide under 12 girls

Despite scoring just three points in the opening game, Merrill soon found her footing to score 76 points across the weekend.

Nicholas Nicolazzo, Whittlesea under 14 boys

Nicolazzo arrived at the tournament as one of the players to watch and he delivered on his side’s run to the final. He had three games where he scored over 20 points.

Fraser Roxburgh, Knox under 18 boys

Roxburgh formed a dynamic partnership with Luke Fennell as the Raiders made an unlikely run to the final. He had a tournament high of 23 points in the last game.

Jayda Scarafilo, Keilor under 14 girls

Scarafilo was more than solid for the Thunder as she finished with 95 points across the weekend.

Tiernan Stynes, Nunawading under 18 boys

Capped off his weekend with the grand final MVP award after scoring 21 points. He finished with 117 points for the tournament.

Milly Surkitt, Sandringham under 12 girls

The Sabres’ young gun’s best performance of the weekend was a 20-point performance against Forestville as she showed fantastic ability at both ends of the floor.

Jaymee Wadey, Frankston under 16 girls

Saved her best two performances for last with back-to-back 24-point performances to close out the weekend.

Kyra Webb, Casey under 18 girls

Averaged 15 points across the weekend to be among the best players for the Cavaliers. Her best scoring output was 21 points in the final game.

Charlie Wilson, Nunawading under 14 boys

One of the most prolific scorers across the competition, Wilson finished with three games over 30 points highlighted by 35 against Canberra.
