With any luck, Roadie would be shooting for five wins in a row at The Valley on Saturday.

Ballarat trainer Andrew Noblet has the Pierro mare racing in terrific form, winning three of her past four outings while Roadie didn’t have the best of luck at her only recent blemish at Sandown in June.

Roadie finished seventh to the in-form Arqana in that Sandown race before that mare showed the strength of that form with a Flemington win last month.

Roadie subsequently won on the Ballarat Synthetic and Sandown Lakeside tracks to earn a crack at Saturday class in the Ladbroke It! Handicap (1600m) at The Valley.

Noblet said the now five-year-old had finally found the consistency to match the ability she showed as a younger horse.

“She’s been good all her career but it’s just taken a while to get into a bit of a rhythm with her,” Noblet said.

“She’s pulling up well and getting through her runs well now so it’s been good.

“She handles both wet and dry so she’s a pretty well-rounded filly.

“Her form is consistent so she’s got a bit going for her.”

Roadie has not raced at The Valley but she has won twice from three attempts at 1600m.

She has drawn barrier three in Saturday’s $130,000 race but Noblet said Roadie needed to begin better than she has in some of her 10 starts to race closer to the speed.

Track manager takes different tack for The Valley’s return

“There’s a little question mark on The Valley but I think that’s the same for most of them,” Noblet said.

“She wears a blanket in the gates and I think that’s the reason she’s sometimes a little bit slow out.

“She wasn’t too bad out of the gates the start before and there’s no reason she can’t race closer.”

Billy Egan will stick with Roadie after winning on her at Sandown.

TAB rated Roadie a $6.50 chance with the Henry Dwyer-trained Electric Impulse the $3.40 favourite ahead of Waimaire at $3.50.
