WARWICK FARM INSIDE MAIL

Race 1: 2&3yo Maiden Handicap (1600m)
CEREMONIOUS (1) settled third on the fence and worked to the line reasonably well for a two length second behind Inception when resuming at Hawkesbury on July 11. Placed in five of his six starts including a second at The Valley. Will go close. WIPEOUT (2) was a handy third first-up then unsuited by the slow tempo at Newcastle. Just missed catching It’s A Knockout on the Kensington last start. INTRUDER (9) raced keenly first-up from a long spell when third to Incarcerated at Wyong.
Bet: Ceremonious to win.

Race 2: 2&3yo Maiden Plate (1100m)
SILMARILLION (12) was very good in her first campaign with a debut third to Gatsby’s before a second to Erno’s Cube in the Gr2 Reisling and a fifth to Linebacker in the Gr3 Baillieu. Gone to the line under a hold in both trials. Her stablemate ALPINE SKI (5) will take improvement from his debut second to Fortingall over 1000m at Kembla on July 18. Steps up to 1100m and drawn nicely. QATARS CHOICE (11) was well backed early in betting for the opening race at Randwick but was scratched on race morning. Must be respected.
Bet: Silmarillion to win.

Race 3: 2&3yo Colts, Horses and Geldings Maiden Plate (1100m)
THEBLADE (7) is a debutant by Toronado from a half-sister to Black Caviar. Wasn’t let go when placed in his first two trials then led and kept under a hold to win his Rosehill trial on July 23. PINITO (10) charged home from last of 11 when second to Hallett on debut on the Kensington on Mar 13 before returning a fortnight later when a closing third to More Territories. Trialling well. LUNA FIELD (1) had trialled very well before a wide run at Newcastle first-up. Pay to forgive.
Bet: Theblade to win.

Race 4: 3yo+ Fillies and Mares Benchmark 72 (1600m)
GOLD PATTERN (6) nearly got there when a head second to Jaex at Kembla first-up. Started a $4.40 fav at Newcastle second-up when she went back from a wide gate when fourth to The Great Houdini. Ready for the step up to the mile. SERENE NIC (4) was fifth at her last start starts behind Kerguelen and Equipage. Placed third to Drift Net at her last run here at home. She also looks like she will handle the step up to 1600m. CALIFORNIA SUNRISE (8) found the line nicely at Kembla last start.
Bet: Gold Pattern each-way.

Race 5: 3yo+ Benchmark 72 (2200m)
WHETU (1) went back from his wide gate and got the trail behind the eventual winner when a noise second to Elsie May over 2130m on a Heavy 9 here on July 10. Scored a big win at Wyong two starts earlier. Again drawn out but is a big chance over the 2200m. Promising young stayer TENNIEL (7) is shooting for a hat-trick of wins. Led all-the-way for a big win at Wyong before repeating it at Hawkesbury both over 2000m. I AM THE EMPIRE (2) was given no peace in front when fourth at Sandown last start.
Bet: Whetu to win.

Race 6: 3yo+ Colts, Horses and Geldings Benchmark 72 (1600m)
INFLUENTIAL (5) resumes after a handy second in his Rosehill trial last week. Won his maiden impressively over 1400m then stepped up to stakes company last campaign. SAILOR (2) beat all bar PRESSER (1) first-up at Canterbury before a second to Space Age over this track and distance second-up. Battled away when fourth to Ha Ha Ha at Randwick last start. Back in grade. SPITFIRE (4) ran home strongly to win at Albury two starts back then didn’t have much in the straight after being held on the Kensington last start.
Bet: Influential to win.

Race 7: Benchmark 72 (1300m)
NIGHTINGALE (10) was good in her first campaign including a big win at Newcastle. Had just one run last time in when fourth at Kembla in April. Resumed with a narrow but handy win at Hawkesbury on July 11. THE REPLICANT (4) is backing up from Randwick on Saturday when fourth behind Cadetship after racing wide without cover. Was runner-up to Kerguelen when returning from a let-up this track and distance on July 10. FLYING DESTINY (2) has placed his last two her and at Canterbury. Will be thereabouts again.
Bet: Nightingale to win.

Race 8: Benchmark 72 (1000m)
ELEGANT EMPRESS (8) raced outside the leader and hit the front on straightening before finishing a length second behind World Alliance with Hi Dubai third when resuming over this track and distance. Her three career wins have all been at this trip with two of them second-up. LOST (4) is resuming off two good trial efforts. Was a nice winner at Sandown two starts back. Has drawn the outside gate though. KIRIBATI (3) is chasing a hat-trick after two very good wins at Hawkesbury and Kembla to kick off his campaign.
Bet: Elegant Empress each-way.
