Shayno: Hello Mitchy. Can I start with a not so bold prediction? James McDonald will win the Jockeys Challenge on Saturday. If they all turn up, he’s $1.04. I only want him to ride one will do me, Unanimous. It’s the Jess Fox of this field.

Mitch: We are unanimous, Shayno. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper finds a very winnable race on Saturday with a couple of strong runs under his belt. As for Jess Fox – another fine product of the Sydney’s golden west!

Racewatch: Tips, inside mail for Rosehill Gardens on Saturday

Shayno: The Highway is an absolute cracker. There are some proven Highway types alongside some really nice prospects, none of them brighter than Intervarsity who is not quite in the Clear Thinking class yet, but she might be one day.

Mitch: I reckon you call the Highway a cracker every second week. I am going to take on Intervarsity and go the way of a race fit rival. That’s Lonhro’s Queen. She ran some of the best sectionals of the meeting last start to win at this venue and I reckon she’s ready to make it a winning hat-trick this weekend.

‘Truly great man’: Racing mourns loss of breeding legend

Shayno: The other ‘must see’ event on Saturday is Compelling Truth versus the best horses he raced so far, with all respects to the Kirby rivals whom he thrashed. Me? I hope he wins by panels but my head tells me Spring Lee will keep him very, very honest.

Mitch: Compelling Truth hasn’t just been winning this preparation, he’s been destroying his opposition. Can he do that in town on a Saturday? He will give them something to catch but tipping Spring Lee’s class will come to the fore late. She’s a genuine stakes class mare.

Group 1 mare sells for $4.15 million in online auction

Shayno: One of J-Mac’s many ‘bests’ on the card is Vivy Air. The Maher mare has some stakes-placings on her CV and has been trialling like a bomb. Thoughts?

Mitch: Vivy Air was one of the best-backed runners on the card last weekend before being scratched on race day when the track fell into the heavy range. Punters will be happy with a fraction of the price at $2.40 this Saturday but that’s better than bank interest. I am making her my best bet.

$41 roughie spoils party in last Sydney 2yo race of season

Shayno: Given France has been on the front and back pages for the last week, it’s only fitting a French horse wins on Saturday, namely Sivka Burka who was less than Tres Bien first-up but can improve sharply.

Mitch: Call me crazy, Shayno but I think Aleas can run a race first up from a 434-day spell.
