NOWRA TIPS

BEST BET
Race 1 No.7 SERIAL OFFENDER
Beaten a nose in one of her three starts; drawn wide but has an amount of speed.

NEXT BEST
Race 7 No.10 SHEBRINGS BEAUTY
Placed at 6 out of 10, she was good at Kembla and finds ‘her race’ here.

VALUE
Race 5 No.3 SNITZAROO
Provincial winner who resumes in a suitable race off a pleasing trial.

QUADDIE
Race 4: 8,10
Race 5: 3,9
Race 6: 1,4,7,8
Race 7: 10

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Lee Magorrian has a solid book of rides at Nowra (if they all come): Race 3 No.6 POCKETING, Race 4 No.5 NO SECOND THOUGHTS, Race 5 No.12 PROVENCAL, Race 6 No.1 ORDER TO CHARGE, Race 7 No.8 KICKAMUSHU.

NOWRA INSIDE MAIL

Race 4: Benchmark 58 (1200m)
PENITENT (8) is a reliable mare; granted, she only has the single win at present (that was at Kembla) but she has placed five times including at Scone last start when passed late by a handy local. Just need some luck early from the draw. ONE SMART COOKIE (10), the potential leader in the race, was very dominant winning a good-looking maiden at the Sapphire Coast last start. NO SECOND THOUGHTS (5) has consistent but costly as well. Dark Vador is ‘1 from 15’ but placed seven times, six of those are seconds, one of them was here at Nowra.
Bet: Penitent to win.

RACE 5: Benchmark 58 (1000m)
SNITZAROO (3) has won twice (no placings) in seven runs to date. One of those wins was a very impressive one at Gosford. The Greg Hickman-trained bay resumes here off a really nice trial at home at Warwick Farm. KEITANY (9) is a prime example of a mare in form. She was very good last prep and has been fantastic in her two runs this time in. Sticky draw the only concern. CAN DO CANTO (7) showed herself to be progressive at the first prep and has trialled well for this,
Bet: Snitzarooo to win, exacta 3 to beat 9, Daily Double 1st Leg (8), 2nd Leg (10).

RACE 6: Benchmark 58 (1600m)
SPRITELY EMILY (8) has only managed three wins in 38 starts but she has placed eight times and has a whole lot of fourths. One of those wins was here at Nowra and you could argue that she is most effective at the mile. Big run there at the Sapphire Coast last time out. TEARS FOR FEARS (4) could well be saved for Hawkesbury on Tuesday. She is getting close now. KEN’KER (7) is lightly-raced and would be full of confidence after banking his first win last start.
Bet: Spritely Emily each-way.

RACE 7: Maiden Plate (1400m)
SHEBRINGS BEAUTY (10) has six placings from nine career starts, five of those medals were earned down in Victoria, her sixth – and silver – was at Scone just prior to a pretty decent fifth at Kembla leading into Monday. Beautifully placed to win. MACHAON (3) won’t be afforded any excuses given the good draw coupled with the step up to 1400m. KICKAMUSHU (8) is still a maiden, believe it or not, but she has been competitive in city races. ROSSELLINI (9) ran way above her $61 SP at the Sapphire Coast at her second outing.
Bet: Shebrings Beauty to win, exacta 10 to beat 3.

MUSWELLBROOK TIPS

BEST BET
Race 1 No.9 LONHREEL
Kris Lees mare who set the scene for victory with a good run at Tamworth.

NEXT BEST
Race 7 No.8 LAST FRONTIER
Won three from four; totally untapped. Going places beyond this.

VALUE
Race 2 No.1 STEEL CLAWS
Getting better with each start; ran especially well at this venue last time.

MUSWELLBROOK INSIDE MAIL

Race 4: Maiden Plate (1000m)
HERE COMES HOGAN (2) has placed at three of his five starts. He ran third to Cosy Corner on debut at Gosford. The Matthew Smith-trained gelding has finished runner-up at his two runs this prep, the last one by inches at Wyong. GLOBAL MISS (13) has also accepted for Hawkesbury on Tuesday. Drawn wide both venues but still doable for her no matter where she goes given the respective track layouts. She is better than her Scone debut. VIACONI (4) was good in town last start and is a Canterbury runner-up.
Bet: Here Comes Hogan to win, Global Miss to place.

Race 5: Fillies and Mares Benchmark 66 (1280m)
CHRISTA (5) was scratched from Dubbo on Sunday to run here in the Queen of The Valley Matchmaker. She has drawn 11 of 11 and had no jockey (as of Sunday) but she has more upside than pretty much all of her rivals – a huge finish too. LAGO’S DAUGHTER (8) has raced at this track and distance six times for a second and two thirds. When races are run to suit her she can really launch herself late. HULU (7) and SILVER HALO (1) are genuine contenders.
Bet: Christa to win or of scratched, Lago’s Daughter each-way, DD 1st Leg (5), 2nd Leg (8).

Race 6: Class 1 Handicap (1000m)
KOGA NINJA (3) is a Cody Morgan/Australian Bloodstock gelding who hasn’t been seen in action since that fourth of 11 at home at Tamworth back on Jan 8. The son of Wandjina has a good overall record, his only win thus far was first-up and he trialled exceedingly well 12 days ago. NOT WRITTEN OFF (4) was scratched from Dubbo on Sunday. This will be her first for Cameron Crockett; she is a 1000m Maiden winner so a 1000m Class 1 (from box 2) looks optimal.
Bet: Koga Ninja to win.

Race 7: Benchmark 74 (1000m)
LAST FRONTIER (8) is (IMHO) the most interesting horse racing on Monday – anywhere. A $380,000 yearling later picked up for $600 online (prior to having a start) has won three of his four runs and some of those of wins have been ‘wow’ style. Untapped at this point, be fascinating to see where he ends up. This is a good field, though. ZAKOR (6) is a local who has rock solid form in races that are at least the equal of this one. Then there are the stablemates OUTISHKA (1) and AQUARTER (7) who are as fast as any and faster than most.
Bet: Last Frontier to win.
