WARREN INSIDE MAIL

Race 4: Class 1 Handicap (1000m)
FANTASY CROWNED (1) has run, by far, more good races than bad in his 10 starts. For the record, the descendant of Geoff and Beryl White’s crack filly Fitting is a Dubbo winner and three times placegetter in some very good company. His first-up form reads well enough. MARYLAND BRIDGE (6) has the race-fitness edge on the toppie to the extent that he is third-up off a last start fourth to the above-average Zarizatycoon. SHE’S A BAD GIRL (2) is 1 from 320 but placed 10 times.
Bet: Fantasy Crowned to win.

Race 5: Class 1 Plate (1600m)
SMART SHOT (5) is owned by the Framptons and the Bowmans (that’s Hugh’s mum and dad). The Cody Morgan-trained gelding has a win and five placings from 11 starts and while always reliable and consistent, he has never raced better. Ran into a good one at Mudgee. KISS THE OUTCAST (4) finally broke through for his first win at start 14 but it was only his third run for Sharon Jeffries. Note that the horse was runner-up at this venue, the first run under the new management.
Bet: Smart Short to win, Daily Double 1st Leg (5), 2nd Leg (4).

Race 6: Benchmark 58 (1200m)
OFF THE PRESS (10) has a wide draw but will come in a few and Warren is famously known as ‘the Randwick of the West’ so it’s not as bad as all that. Long story short, just in case he stays at home, he’s got two eighths alongside his name this prep, best forget them and forgive them. SCORPIUS (9) looks deadset purpose-built for a track like Warren, what with his whirlwind finish and all. POWDERFINGER (3) was doing some good things late at Narromine over 800m. She is one for one at this track and distance.
Bet: Off The Press to win or if scratched Scorpius to win.

Race 7: Benchmark 58 (1400m)
MAGIC SHOT (4) has a tidy CV of nine starts for two wins and three placings. The son of Shooting To Win had his first run for Cody Morgan in a 1200m race at Tamworth on July 5 and went very close indeed. The step-up to 1400m now and at a place like Warren is just perfect. MAGNACE (2) was outstanding when he won a Class 1 at Wellington on May 30 then went to Rosehill and ran a very creditable race on a 1500m Highway. NOT NEGOTIATING (3) loves Warren.
Bet: Magic Shot to win, box trifecta 2,3,4,5.

TAREE TIPS

BEST BET
Race 5 No.3 ROSSY’S TYPA GIRL
Boasts some compelling numbers right across the board. Close to winning.

NEXT BEST
Race 7 No.3 AYE AYE SKIPPER
Has been excellent in three runs up this way after coming from Victoria.

VALUE
Race 1 No.10 WELCOME BACK
Winless after 28 starts but handed in a P.B here last start.

TAREE INSIDE MAIL

Race 4: Class 2 Handicap (1400m)
BERTIE (4) races in the same colourful silks worn by his dam Nancy, who won a Hawkesbury Crown among other things. Bertie broke through for his first win as recently as July 11 in a 1450m Maiden on a heavy 9 at Muswellbrook. Goes to show how well provincial form works in the country. HOTZINO (5), the former Victorian, ran a bold race for Kris Lee here first-up when runner-up to Miss Cartel who is herself provincial grade and maybe more. MOSGIEL DAISY (3) races best at home.
Bet: Bertie to win, quinella 4,5.

Race 5: Benchmark 58 (1600m)
ROSSY’S TYPA GIRL (3), the granddaughter of 1000 Guineas winner Macedon Lady, is a very reliable and consistent mare. Granted, she has only won twice in her 24 starts but a lot of times she has gone back, often due to wide draws, but rarely is anything finishing faster than her. AUSBRED COOEE (4) shapes as a potential sizeable improver on Tuesday, second-up over a fair more suitable trip for a son of Fiorente. Hard to imagine SHE’S GOT TEETH (7) not featuring somewhere.
Bet: Rossy’s Typa Girl to win, Ausbred Cooee place, Daily Double 1st Leg (3), 2nd Leg (3).

Race 6: Class 3 Handicap (1250m)
MISCHIEVOUS MOLLY (7) has all the hallmarks of a horse that will be contesting ‘good races’ in the new season, maybe all the way up to 2000m. She is certainly in the right stable with Wayne Wilkes. This is quite a solid Class 3 on Tuesday, and it is wet, and she is first-up but maybe her talent gets her home? CAPITAMY (9) was close enough to the run of the race when a somewhat luckless fifth at Tamworth behind Tuesday rival Lady Soames. SHIHAB (1) has a big weight and a wide alley but loves it wet at Taree.
Bet: Mischievous Molly to win.

Race 7: Benchmark 58 (1000m)
AYE AYE SKIPPER (3) is one of so many former Victorians that starts to win races after ending up at John Sprague’s Port Macquarie stables. This son of Merchant Navy is ‘218’ in his three runs for Sprague. Two things: One, the win was on a Heavy 8 and two, the barrier is why he has an ‘8’ next to his name from the last run. MONTE CRUISE (5) is a talented filly from the in-form Noel Mayfield-Smith stable. Drawn 1, that should see her right up on the speed from the outset. Ditto that – times ten in fact – for FLOSS’S ONE (4).
Bet: Aye Aye Skipper to win, box trifecta 3,4,5,10.
