2025 Magic Millions 2YO Classic acceptances: Gun Victorian colt made first emergency

An unbeaten colt from a top Victorian stable is sweating on a scratching to take his place in the field for Saturday’s $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast.

Victorian trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr will spend the next few days sweating on a Magic Millions 2YO Classic start for their gun colt Space Rider, who was today made first emergency.

Thre were 23 final acceptors for Saturday’s $3 million, 1200m feature at the Gold Coast, with the unraced Chris Anderson pair Get Ready Lass and Koolatah Queen balloted out.

The Peter Snowden-trained Quietly Arrogant, an impressive winner at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday, will carry the number one saddlecloth and will be joined in the final field by stablemate Memo. Other acceptors included the Ciaron Maher-trained favourite Icarian Dream and Tony Gollan’s La Bella Boom, who also won at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday to secure her place in the field.

The race is held under set weight conditions, with colts and geldings carrying 57kg and fillies 55kg.

Officials are in a race against time to have the Gold Coast track ready for next Saturday’s Magic Millions meeting, following the discovery of a section of damaged grass at the 500m mark on Thursday which saw last Saturday’s Sunlight Stakes meeting transferred to the Sunshine Coast at the eleventh hour.
