BEST BET
PERICLES (R8 No.2 – $2.20)
Pericles was an unlucky third in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes behind Gentleman Roy and Pinstriped. The Godolphin stable bypassed last week’s Group 1 Memsie Stakes, which was won by Pinstriped, for and easier assignment here where he is well placed under the set weights and penalties conditions as a Group 1 placegetter. His second-up form reads two wins and two seconds from four runs.

NEXT BEST
ARKANSAW KID (R5 No.3 – $2.10)
Arkansaw Kid returned as a gelding with an emphatic win at Caulfield and he’ll only improve. The Hayes stable is talking him up as an Everest horse, so he’ll have to be winning this to be in that conversation. From barrier two he’ll stalk the leaders Who Dares and Snapper and be ready to pounce. He is also a winner at the track.
VALUE BET
SUPARAZI (R10 No.1 – $14)
Superazi was denied by a superb ride from Blake Shinn on Extratwo, who then placed in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes. He stays in a Benchmark 84 at the track and distance.
THE JOCKEY
CAPTAIN BARBOSSA (R1 No.3 – $3.60), WRITTEN IN CODE (R2 No.8 – $4.80), ARAMCO (R3 No.1 – $4), NAME DROPPER (R4 No.15 – $8), IMMORTAL STAR (R6 No.2 – $3.30), BOSUSTOW (R7 No.4 – $11), PERICLES (R8 No.2 – $2.20), ESTRIELLA (R9 No.6 – $3.90), MISS ARIA (R10 No.8 – $5.50)
