We’ll find out if Growing Empire is a Group 1 prospect. The Ciaron Maher colt defeated subsequent Group 1 placegetter and Group 2 winner Bittercreek by two lengths at The Valley in March before a commanding 4½-length victory in a Group 3 race in Adelaide a month later.

SASSY BOOM (R1 No.3 – $4.40)

Sassy Boom was a Group 2 winner at the track and distance last campaign and looks well placed here resuming in a Benchmark 84. She has looked sharp in her jumpouts and Blake Shinn will likely give her a positive ride in a race lacking tempo on paper.

VALUE BET

PINSTRIPED (R9 No.5 – $12)

Mr Brightside and Pride Of Jenni have the class edge in the Memsie Stakes but the market has ignored Pinstriped despite his great return in the PB Lawrence Stakes. He looked the winner in that race but his habit of laying in proved costly. With the run under the belt he can settle a little closer from barrier three and give a good sight.
