Herald Sun form analyst Chris Vernuccio gives his $200 betting strategy and detailed quaddie selections for Sandown on Saturday.

FOUR-PLAY: $200 BETTING STRATEGY

RACE 8 SANDOWN: BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP (1800m)

$50 win REVELARE (6) at $2.30

Revelare has won his past two and should have no issues backing up after winning a very slowly run race. Highlighting the absurd tempo last week, Revelare ran the fastest last 200m of the last meeting in a 1600m race. He’s still lightly raced compared to his rivals and can keep improving stepping up in distance.

RACE 10 SANDOWN: BENCHMARK 84 HANDICAP (1400m)

$50 win LETHAL THOUGHTS (7) at $3.40

Lethal Thoughts is well-placed here to win third-up and can settle closer to the lead from barrier two. He missed the start at Geelong first-up before running the fastest last 400m and 200m of the race, and also ran home strongly next start at Flemington when second to Is It Me. He is a winner at the track and distance.

RACE 8 ROSEHILL: GROUP 3 SOUTHERN CROSS STAKES (1200m)

$50 win ACCREDITED (9) at $3.10

Accredited has won three in a row rising through the grades, the latest a four-length romp in a Benchmark 88 in early January, and this is his biggest test. The Joe Pride galloper had the Carrington Stakes at his mercy last week before the race was scrapped. He has to drop back to 1200m but is a month between runs, and shouldn’t have any pressure up front.

RACE 9 ROSEHILL: BENCHMARK 88 HANDICAP (1200m)

$50 win SPRING LEE (14) at $3.30

Spring Lee can make amends for punters after she was beaten first-up as a short favourite. She will be better suited on a drier track, her second-up form is solid with a win and two seconds from four attempts and has drawn ideally in barrier four.

QUADZILLA

LEG 1 – RACE 7

This is a deep race. GARNACHO (1) is a last-start winner in similar grade and the extra distance is in his favour. MARY ELIZA (9) won her maiden at Mornington and can measure up here at 1800m. EMPHASIZE (2) also won his maiden impressively and his form ties with Garnacho through his Sale debut. ENTRUSTING (5) and MR VERSE (6) both won two starts back then had their troubles next start when beaten favourites.

1ST LEG: 1, 2, 5, 6, 9

LEG 2 – RACE 8

REVELARE (6) has won two of his past three, both over 1600m, and is bred to race over further. He has a lot of upside. DRAGOON (4) was run down last start over 2000m and looks better suited back to 1800m and Blake Shinn is always hard to get past when he leads. NANA’S WISH (9) might want further now after finishing 1½ lengths behind One Long Day, who was narrowly beaten last Saturday.

2ND LEG: 4, 6, 9

LEG 2 – RACE 9

There are plenty of hopes here. SHE’S BULLETPROOF (9) had her chance to win last start at Geelong and is worth giving another chance. QUINTESSA (1) has a great first-up record with three wins from four attempts which includes a Group 3 victory over the trip last prep. She is way over the odds. MIRAVAL ROSE (4) has been freshened since winning over 1400m on New Year’s Day. TASHI (6) goes well fresh and has been a consistent performer at the distance. WROTE TO ARATAKI has trialled well and her best is good enough here.

3RD LEG: 1, 4, 5, 6, 9

LEG 4 – RACE 10

LETHAL THOUGHTS (7) looks ready to win third-up after two strong run-on performances and can sit behind the leaders from an inside draw. One of those frontrunners is NAME DROPPER (11), who maintained his unbeaten first-up record at Flemington. He stays at the 1400m where he has three wins from four starts. TYPHOON HARMONY (9) also won first-up, over 1200m at Pakenham. He’ll be better up in trip and gains the services of Craig Williams.

4TH LEG: 7, 9, 11

Cost $100 for 44.44%
