Jockey Ethan Brown will not let an inside gate go to waste on favourite Manolo Bling in the Vale Black Caviar Plate (1200m) at The Valley.

Manolo Bling, trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, travelled three-wide without cover on debut at Caulfield but responded to the challenge under Brown and fended off the chasers.

Early Oil tips for The Valley: $18 value bet in the last

Manolo Bling, a $2.70 favourite with TAB to win again, has the luxury of barrier one on Saturday to get a more economical run.

Immortal Star ($4.20) and Photograph ($4.60), going for a hat-trick, loom as major threats.

Brown galloped Manolo Bling at The Valley last Tuesday.

“She’s in the right stable to be there 100 per cent ready to go,” Brown said.

“She’s had a run under the belt now and she can measure up, she’ll run well again.”

Manolo Bling, a daughter of Grunt, has scope to get over more grade in the future.

“She does strike me as more of a sprinter than a miler at the moment, but she is by the right sire (to get further too).”

‘Going to have a good prep’: Raikoke primed to erupt at The Valley

Brown has a tidy book of rides at The Valley on Saturday including Mornington Glory in the Listed Carlyon Stakes.

Mornington Glory won the lead-up race at The Valley by 3¾ lengths untouched.

Brown picked up the ride with Jamie Kah committed to favourite Bold Bastille.

“I can’t fault him,” Brown said of the second favourite.

“Looks to be good speed in the race, he’ll be suited by that.

“He’ll need a bit of luck from the gate but I’m definitely happy to be on him, he’s race-fit and put the writing on the wall last start.”
