THE FASTEST man on the planet landed in Sydney this morning to prove lightning can strike twice.
The eight-time Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter, who holds the title of history’s fastest man, touched down in Sydney shortly after 7am with the intent of becoming a professional soccer player.
Bolt will this week begin an “indefinite training period” in the hope of joining A-League side Central Coast Mariners.
Bolt, 31, was quick to dispel doubts his A-League bid is more than a publicity stunt.
“I’m very serious,” Bolt said.

“I want to play football and this is my opportunity.
“I’m going to make the most of this great opportunity and I’m looking forward to making the fans proud.”
One such fan, Julie Wall, 46, stole a kiss from the towering Jamaican, who made a brief appearance outside the terminal to greet the Mariners faithful.
“He was just standing there so I though ‘I may as well plant one on him’,” Mrs Wall said.
“I normally get the players to sign my belly but in this case, I didn’t think it would be appropriate.”
The Gosford fan was buzzing at the media attention Bolt had already captured.
“A-League doesn’t get as much recognition as the other football codes but that’s all about to change now Usain‘s here,” she said.
“I think he’ll make the team because he’s very athletic, wants to be the best at everything he does and will work hard.”
