SuperCoach market watch: Best trade options, top scores after Round 13

IT’S the third and last week of the bye and that means SuperCoaches have some season-defining decisions to make about their teams. While there are plenty of juicy trade targets, will a prolific Demons midfielder top your list?

DECISIONS, decisions.

It’s the third and last week of the bye and that means SuperCoaches have some season-defining decisions to make about their teams.

Have you got enough cash in the bank to bring in three stars?

How about a couple of big dog keepers like Danger, Clarry or Cripps?

THE PHANTOM: A VERY UNHAPPY DAY FOR SUPERCOACHES

RAGE TRADES: MACRAE ON THE OUTER?

THE TACKLE: IS THIS TIGER THE NEW LUKE HODGE?

It’s the last week you can make three trades and maybe its time for a massive triple downgrade to make some bank for an assault on the back end of the season.

Whatever you decide to do, here’s a good place to start, with our bye-free trade options plus the team that won the Round 13 weekly prize — as the only SuperCoach to exceed 2300, if you don’t mind — and Champion Data’s Market Watch.

LET’S GO SHOPPING

DEFENDERS

Elliot Yeo (WC) $521,700 DEF | Av 105.8 | BE 100

If you haven’t got this man in your side, do you even SuperCoach? Was top of the pops for our defenders last week and for good reason — he churned out 144 as one of the Eagles’ best in a tough loss to the Swans.

Kade Simpson (Carl) $516,600 DEF | Av 105.8 | BE 106

If you’re going to get Simpson, now’s the time to do it. It doesn’t tend to matter how badly the Blues are going, the veteran has the ability to churn out high scores. Crept over the $500k mark with 123 in Carlton’s pitiful display against Freo and has a break even of 106.

Harris Andrews (Bri) $510,800 DEF | Av 97.1 | BE 53

One of the finds of the season, both on the field for Brisbane, where he is in the All Australian conversation, and off the field for SuperCoaches, sporting an average of 113.4 over his past five. The only way is up.

Jack Crisp (Col) $510,800 DEF | Av 96.4 | BE 82

Same price as Andrews and like the Lion, he’s on a tear. Crisp has become a vital member of a Pies’ line-up that some are saying is in the premiership window. Churned out an average of 110.6 points across his past five, without passing 119. Consistency!

MIDFIELDERS

Tom Mitchell (Haw) $614,100 MID | Av 124.7 | BE 98

About to go through the roof thanks to another 136 on the weekend reduced his break even to 98 — and he’s still relatively cheap. The Hawks have an easy run home and Titch will feast. Move heaven and earth to get him.

Clayton Oliver (Haw) $560,200 MID | Av 114.2 | BE 85

The second-most popular trade in target for SuperCoaches. Oliver has freshened up after the bye and will relish the challenge of cracking in against Port’s hard-bodied midfielders. Only going to jump in price. Only gone under 100 four times this season — and one of those was a 98.

Ollie Wines (PTA) $508,300 MID | Av 102.8 | BE 7

Was the buy of Round 12 and didn’t disappoint. With a break even of seven and, after putting together a mammoth 157 to back up 142, Wines is perhaps the form player of SuperCoach — and he’s only just ticked over $500k

Callan Ward (GWS) $517,800 MID | Av 101.8 | BE 44

Stick with me here. After a slow start, Ward has emerged as one of the best SuperCoach options at the Giants. Churned out almost 130ppg in his past three and, with a break even of just 44, could well end up above the $600k mark by season’s end. That’s premium scoring.

RUCKS

Max Gawn (Mel) $620,300 RUC | Av 125.8 | BE 158

Brodie Grundy (Col) $631,500 RUC | Av 124.8 | BE 148

Forget the break evens, if you haven’t got this ruck combination, it’s probably time to reassess your SuperCoach life. Both players average at least 19.3 points more than their nearest ruck option, Stefan Martin.

FORWARDS

Tom McDonald (Mel) $556,700 FWD/DEF | Av 113.1 | BE 48

Almost 3,500 SuperCoaches have made the switch to McDonald already and for good reason. Elite scoring with a break even of just 48 makes him ripe for the picking in a Melbourne squad that has allowed his versatility to shine.

Jack Gunston (Haw) $444,700 FWD | Av 94.2 | BE 45

If you’re looking for a high potential, lower cost F6, then Gunston could be your man. A swing back into defence gave him the opportunity to put out his best return since Round 1 — 123. If he stays there, he could be a super point of difference in just two per cent of teams at the moment.

James Sicily (Haw) $502,300 FWD/DEF | Av 106 | BE 78

Aside from Tom Mitchell, Sicily is the Hawk you must have. Has stayed on the park since his early season indiscretions and the only question is FWD or DEF?

Robbie Gray (PTA) $500,100 FWD | Av 106 | BE 89

If you haven’t got him, get him. The second best forward in the game shook off a couple of quieter ones (quiet being 91 and 96) to post 121 against the Dogs.

CHAMPION DATA MARKET WATCH

Jaeger O’Meara

O’Meara scored 114 SuperCoach points against the Crows — his highest score since Round 4. He finished with 23 effective disposals, 13 contested possessions, eight tackles and a game-high 10 clearances. O’Meara was off target with two behinds and was involved in eight scoring chains.

Kade Simpson

Simpson finished with 123 SuperCoach points against the Dockers on the back of a remarkable third term where he had 18 disposals and 66 points. He finished the match with 29 effective disposals, 24 uncontested possessions, eight contested possessions and 394 metres gained from 91% game time.

Elliot Yeo

Yeo had a game-high 144 SuperCoach in last week’s loss to Sydney Swans, scoring 30 points in each quarter. He finished with 29 disposals, 13 contested possessions, three clearances, eight tackles and game-high 13 inside 50s. Yeo also hit the scoreboard with two goals and four score assists.

YOUNG GUN: ED RICHARDS

Richards was one of very few positives for the Bulldogs against Port Adelaide, finishing with a season-high 99 points, of which 61 were scored in the second term. He had 10 effective disposals, nine contested possessions, four inside 50s and two tackles from 84% game time. He also kicked three goals and had two score assists.
