NAB League Top 50: SuperCoach scores after Round 2

Two of the country’s best AFL Draft prospects have further elevated their standing. Plus a host of young guns produced monster games. See the full rankings.

Brisbane Lions father-son prospect Will Ashcroft has pushed his credentials as a top-five draft pick with a dominant display in the NAB League on Saturday.

Ashcroft, a Sandringham Dragons midfielder, scored a monster 174 KFC SuperCoach ranking points against Calder Cannons to be the top-ranked player of Round 2.

Ashcroft’s day saw him collect 38 disposals, seven inside-50s, nine clearances, 10 score involvements, four marks and four tackles.

He helped lead the Dragons to a 43-point triumph over the Cannons.

Recruiters view Ashcroft as an onballer who can do it all and has few deficiencies in his game.

He is yet to decide if he will follow in the footsteps of his father Marcus — a three-time premiership player with the Lions — and nominate for Brisbane at this year’s draft or choose to be put on the open market where he would be a hot contender for the No. 1 pick.

Another son of a gun also shone again in the same game, with Joshua Misiti logging 21 disposals, eight marks and a goal for the Calder Cannons.

The son of Essendon premiership player Joe Misiti, he was a father-son prospect for the Bombers last year but returned to the Cannons as a 19-year-old after being overlooked at the draft table.

A key position prospect, Misiti is 194cm tall and has a good leap.

Another famous name in this year’s draft pool, Noah Bradshaw had a big game for the Murray Bushrangers on the weekend with 24 disposals, six inside 50s and 139 ranking points.

The son of two-time Brisbane premiership forward Daniel Bradshaw, Noah was father-son eligible for the Lions last year but is another player who returned to the NAB League as a 19-year-old this season after being overlooked.

Oakleigh Chargers midfielder and AFL Academy member Elijah Tsatas was another standout performer from the weekend with 36 disposals, seven marks, seven inside-50s and 149 ranking points on a wing.

Bendigo Pioneers midfielder-forward Harley Reid scored 160 ranking points from 16 disposals, six marks and two goals.

Reid, an explosive player who looks up to Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield, is not draft eligible until next year.

However, recruiters are already getting excited about the potential of the boy from Tongala.
