The next generation of AFL stars are getting national exposure, with NAB League games streamed live online this season.

Continuing this weekend with the Sandringham Dragons Vs Oakleigh Chargers, one match each round will be beamed live onto computer and mobile phone screens around the country for digital subscribers of News Corp mastheads, including the Herald Sun, The Geelong Advertiser and The Hobart Mercury.

The home of many of the game’s most promising up-and-coming players, the NAB League is responsible for producing more than 50 per cent of draftees to the AFL each year.

The club captains all gathered at Urbnsurf in Tullamarine for an exclusive Herald Sun photo shoot to tout the exciting new coverage of the best young talent in the land.

Collingwood Next Generation Academy member and Oakleigh Chargers star Youseph Dib said the streaming would be particularly beneficial for family and friends, with some games played hundreds of kilometres away or even interstate.

“We have to travel great distances for some games so it’s a bit of a trek for them,” Dib said.

“This will give them the opportunity to watch us play.

“It’s very exciting having more eyes on us and having great exposure for our games.”

Collingwood father-son prospect Nick Daicos and potential Western Bulldogs father-son Sam Darcy are two of the top players to watch from the NAB League this season, both playing for Oakleigh Chargers.

Sandringham Dragons midfielders Josh Sinn and Campbell Chesser are among other highly-rated draft prospects this year, along with Dandenong Stingrays ruckman Mac Andrew, Geelong Falcons ruckman Toby Conway and Tasmania Devils onballer Samuel Banks.

AFL Executive General Manager of Football Steve Hocking said the live streaming would expose the competition to a broader audience.

“The NAB League is an exciting competition where many young Victorian and Tasmanian under-19 players make their transition to becoming Australian Football League players,” Hocking said.

“NAB has been a fantastic supporter of our AFL talent pathways for 19 years and it is exciting that this commitment will be highlighted as part of the live streaming opportunity for fans via the Herald Sun and other News Corp websites.

“The young men in the NAB League represent the future of our game and will excite and engage fans across the country for years to come.”
